You know, when you think about it, returning isnt a big deal at all especially if one is going back to South America, or a lesser European club like Rooney to Everton for example.

In all seriousness, this is mainly done when players are looking to retire and cant contribute to a top tier team anymore. And it's common for South American side to accept any "legend" back despite their age. Romario was moving from one brazil side to another in his late 30s. For those sides it's more of a marketing thing.

So, sorry guest, nothing too special about this. When top sides arent looking for players they go home or go to the MLS.
