We’ve replaced high end world class players CR and Modric with high end world class players Hazard and Valverde. The difference in quality is not apparent, of course we are winning trophies

ZZ is getting the team back into the mindset of playing with that extra edge in big games. It wasn't pretty. But other than errors by Ramos and Carvajal, our defense was absolutely rock solid.

If it wasn't Atleti (or Barca), i wouldn't care at all. But i don't want to lose a single thing to those two teams... that's what made this a big game despite the trophy being minor.

What Sport said. Wouldn't even want to lose this por mans CWC to Barca/Atleti

Our defence is amazing. How in such an amazing era we have a great defence and midgidld do we still have a terrible frontline. Unfathomable

I really like Mendy. Strong defender, average attacker.

On the game, our attack is damn average.

You know I have always hated him for his classless behavior. But the day I truly knew he was one of the biggest a-holes in the game  was when he did this:
Spoiler:

He's 50 years old and he's behaving like a fragile, angry little teenager.

Always satisfying to see him lose.

Our forwards, bar Benzema, need to practice NOT shooting directly at the goalkeepers.

That miss by Valverde was pretty amazing too lol. He actually managed to head it onto his own knee with an open net from 1 meter.

Zidane circle jerk aside, this really was a poor performance from both teams. We sorely need a creative midfielder in the summer. I know it’s just the cup, but I can see us struggling against a sub-par Man City side if we play like this. They may be below their usual standard, but they won’t struggle to create and score, like Atl Madrid did. Liverpool are on another level.

Or it could've been because Atleti played in their own half all game with 3 of their 4 subs being defensive. We are going to teach City a footballing lesson because Pep still hasn't got it through his head that playing a highline is suicide against us. I am not worried now that we have ZZ. Give us any of those overhyped PL teams and we'll kill their hype. They are the new Bayern of Europe aren't they

We're employing Atleti tactics.  We're actually trying to make the game ugly and without rhythm.  Likely going to stay this way until both Benzema and Hazard return.  Then we'll take more risks.

Reason being is that we will never outscore anyone with this midfield and attack.  So we need to not concede.

Your posts are quite contradictory. We better have Benzema and Hazard back for out match against them then Laughing

Just checked, that match is over a month from now. Both should be back by then. We have a good track record against City, but we also had our best players still in their prime when we played against them in the past. I’m not expecting anything.

No we are not employing their tactics. What disrespect. Did you not see the game against Valencia where we played really well. We played better against them this game than we did in the first clash earlier in the season.

Like I said in the GS, Atleti don't know how to deal with wingers running at them over and over. We smashed them everytime we have had a technical winger be it ADM, Jese or Vini. If you pass from side to side, it'll take a miracle to beat them. Most of our games against them are games where we control the game but create very little. That doesn't work in the league where you need to win but it always work in Cup competitions because ZZ ia smarter than Simeone

Benz obviously wasn't THAT injured. Probably couldn't be arsed to go all the way to Saudi to play two pointless games

Watch him be back for the Sevilla clash

I mean we'll try to make plays if we have a talent advantage... like against Valencia. In bigger games, we are and should be conservative.  We always have two midfielders behind the ball when we attack.  That's when you know that we're really play conservative defensively.

Courtois isn't good enough with the ball at his feet and coming off his line to play a higher line anyhow.  We have some limitations we need to compensate for.
