I remember him just in CL group last year and he was decisive against PSV FFS
but as I understand it, it's been just an exception

This is insane.
Last season when they didn't buy a single player, they went on to be one game from their greatest season ever.
This season they "won" the transfer window, yet on the pitch have completely fell off.
Honestly can't see Poch turning it around. I think he'll walk soon. Something looks rotten in their dressing room. From Dele's complete fall out of grace, to the Eriksen-Verth rumours.
Will forever be thankful to them and VAR for taking 2 points off City though

Vertonghen and Alderweireld have lost it. I've talked extensively of how the fullbacks aren't good enough. The defense is so bad
And Dier is terrible. Switching to a 4-2-3-1 is a decent idea, because Spurs need a DM. But Dier isn't that person.

TBF Ndombele couldn't play for the first 2 months and Lo Celso has yet to play. Effectively no changes have been made to the squad.
That said, I always disagreed they "won" the transfer season. Lo Celso doesn't fit now that Eriksen chose to stay, and what they really need is a DM and 2 proper FBs. Instead they got a b2b and an AM/winger, when they already can't give Lucas enough playing time.
Still feel like they're playing below potential though.

It's so easy to pass through the team, it's so hard for Tottenham to pass through anyone.
This is the worst I've seen them since Poch has been manager. It's obviously the worst form, but the performances match it, absolutely. They're awful

I told you Spurs did not win anything in the transfer window. But today that's not even the problem, GK issues and performance from players that the club is not counting on long term is doing them in

It's really hard for me to put into words how bad that performance was. First half, I mean. I imagine second half won't get any better. This team has no confidence right now.
This is like, Arsenal vs Watford level.

Re: 2019/2020 Premier League Discussion: Chapter II
Spurs kinda looking like United in the final parts of Mourinho's tenure. No matter who plays and in what shape, the players are missing that extra 10% of intensity without the ball. Hard to accomplish anything with runs aren't being made or the space isn't being covered. The more average players get exposed in that situation, too. They're not being covered and aren't making up for their deficiencies with extra effort.
Losing confidence after a 7-2 is understandable. Spurs were probably hoping to grow into this game but then Lloris drops a clanger inside 3 mins and breaks his arm. Not ideal.

TBH I think there are too may things wrong off the field. Players not wanting to be there etc.
Spurs just look like they can't even be bothered sometimes.

Look, sometimes, a team just needs to reset, new faces ned to come in, that's the problem with spurs and even madrid. i dont know if Pochettino is specifically at fault here, Spurs have been punching above their weight for years and he took them there. Not league contender level but just below, and maybe that's enough for this cycle.

Re: 2019/2020 Premier League Discussion: Chapter II
So what's Spurs' plan from here?
They surely can't bin all the players who want to leave in January unless they're planning on signing a new defence. Nor is Jan an easy market to bring in good quality for value. Somehow, I can't see Levy overspending just to get one or two quality players in to freshen things up.
Maybe they sack Pochettino and hope a new manager can bring the squad together, but who could they get? It'd be a huge decision.

the only plan is to tough it out, use the NT break to re-focus and to slowly come back to wining ways which they have enough talent to do. THere is nothing like a few wins to fix a crisisJay29 wrote:So what's Spurs' plan from here?

Unless they can convince Allegri to take over, which I doubt very much, sacking Pochettino would be a very bad decision.

Klopp has just picked lovren to play this new high line defence tactic of his against a in form Jamie vardy. It's like he wants to give away our first defeat. Looks like I'm gonna be ranting about klopp.later.
