i kinda suspected that Dani Olmo would be one of those players who would be instrumental in build ups

just able to watch highlights but oh boy atalanta had like 7 or 8 players defending everytime Zagreb was going for goal and still not able to clear...

all the flank players for atalanta had a disaster of a game looks like

Furthermore I cannot fathom how the referee did not blow the whistle a nigh minute past 4 mins (the final minute) when Atalanta meekly lost possession in their half as its not like Shaktar quickly transitioned into their own zone as the referee was just completely unaware it seems it was past 4.

But their defending to concede the final one especially De Roon's lack of effort to close the box and the bumbling CB who let the winner through summed up why Atalanta will not get out of the group, especially now. Their defence is just such a weakness it takes away from what was a beautiful attacking performance by Gasperini's side.


Atalanta looked like another team completely and back to the side that impressed last year in Serie A. Dominated the game completely and very unlucky loss.

Last goal whilst past the extra time by far, was purely their own fault as if each player was relying on the other to cancel the counter out.

Sums up Atalanta this season.

Attack well when it goes in their favour but defensively a shambolic team and when their defence is pressured their attack suffers considerably given Gasperini teams work as a very cohesive unit in attack and defence.

Duvan is good but very important tactically and results of Atalanta this season are deceiving given they were not what they were last season and have been unlucky in the first 2 opening CL games.

Deserve to be knocked out nonetheless.

Atalanta today despite no true CF did look like Atalanta especially in the second half where they were considerably the better team.

Kyle Walker as substitute GK for the sent off Bravo on Ilicic's chance is definitely one of the stories of the month and the FK shot at him was fumbled but luckily he caught both flighted shots that came to him.

You could tell Atalanta tried almost too hard to rush the ball to take advantage of the 10 men and more so of Walker, who clearly isn't a natural GK.

Very entertaining 2nd half as I wish City did not perform such deliberate time-wasting in order to keep the final mins open as that was thoroughly disappointing given the situation and the team they have, but a very good match overall and Atalanta's next 2 games are a must win otherwise they will deservedly go out.

In attack they look so good no matter who they have faced but defensively so frail so do not expect much.

Kyle Walker is the first English goalkeeper since 2016 who has made at least one save in a CL match (mystats sources)

I'm truly disappointed with Atalanta. But seems like they will return next year too and may be then they will make amends.

Atalanta deserved to win, they controlled the match in second half with many dangerous scoring chances. I remember Ilicic missing a couple of first touches in the danger zone. Atalanta paid for their lack of finition.

Will keep an eye on Pasalic somehow he stands out every time i see him. He still belongs to Chelsea since 2014, never played for them, but now they might pay attention to his breakout season.
