Dominic Solanke Vs Tammy Abraham

I wanted to create a thread to track how these two progress as they have a lot in common.

Both are currently 21, both came through the Chelsea youth system, joining in 2004, both are over 6ft, both scored 41 goals in the same youth setup in 14/15 before taking very separate paths in their career. To many Chelsea youth followers, Solanke was often called the bigger talent but their career statistics tell a different story: Solanke has 61 career Apps with 8 goals. Abraham has 131 career Apps with 60 goals. Solanke's career has been mostly in top flight competitions, while Abraham has scored 52 goals with championship teams.

If Solanke had stuck with Chelsea, there is a chance he could be playing in Abraham's spot today, but he is instead at Bournemouth.

Who will have the better season and have the better career? Tammy will certainly get more chances early on but if he fails, there will be less patience with him than Bournemouth will have with Solanke.

Tammy because I don't know the other jobber.

In all seriousness, Abraham will be the more prolific of the two because he's an instinctive striker. Other areas of his game need work, but he'll score just because of his positioning and anticipation. I've not seen those qualities in Solanke. He's more of a grafter and runner, perhaps has a bit more technique to him but probably won't turn into anyone prolific. I thought it was weird that he won best player at the U20 World Cup when England won it, because there were better performers in that team. Bournemouth is a great club for him to be at, though.

From an England perspective, it's nice having two different types of striker coming through, plus Nketiah, who's a pocket rocket.

I don't know either but I'm going to vouch for Kid Tammy simply because if DomSol had any whiff of potential, he would have been kept at Liverpool.

Imagine using Sodonkey as any metric of comparison given he has effectively very little talent.

Tammy I have yet to quantify from an anecdotal perspective but I am sure from what I have heard he is head and shoulders better than that anvil.

I honestly should have made it years ago when they were very similarly rated.

I do think Solanke is a good player, he has just made poor career choices, imo.

Abraham and its not even close. Solanke got so many opportunities at Liverpool. As much as I enjoyed and noticed his traits, he couldn't make it count.
