Re: The Bundesliga Thread 19/20
It is going to take some time to get use to the lack of crowd noise and the empty stadium, training ground feeling of the games. I almost think it would be better with sound off and Kraftwerk blaring in the background.

Wolfsburg goal with a great header.
Ausgburg defenders were keeping social distance I think

Schalke have been awful today. Can't handle Dortmund's front 3. Sane maybe the only one, but he's all at sea and got beat badly by Haaland on the first goal. Mckennie chasing ghosts in midfield. Harit and Caligiuri on milkboxes. That young keeper Schubert hasn't looked solid at all too.

Dortmund is without Reus, Sancho and Can as well. I had expected Schalke to provide more of a challenge for them.

Filthy finish from Guerreiro for Dortmund's 4th.
This game was over at 2-0 honestly.

Delaney's been great today. Done a lot of Dortmund's dirty work. Good return outing for him after coming back from injury.

Yeah, Schalke practicing too much social distancing. Switched over to Augsburg v Wolfsburg, Wolfsburg finally getting the deserved winner late in the game. Leipzig throwing away the title race

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 19/20
Trying to watch Eintracht-Gladbach second half now
don't know what to say.
Maybe it'd be better to play and film it on a training pitch and not have the massive reverb remind us with every sound that there's an empty stadium
I find it difficult to watch
but it has something very intimate, almost if only one can stay focussed you can actually perceive the football more clearly

Quality-wise, there's rust all around. Feels almost like pre-season.
To me, It's watchable though, even without fans in the stadiums.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 19/20
i can imagine what you mean. Probably because of the no fan noise you can hear the natural sound of the game-play interactionHapless_Hans wrote:but it has something very intimate, almost if only one can stay focussed you can actually perceive the football more clearly
again i can imagine haha because i saw the photos of the Dortmund players practicing social distancing on Twitter in celebration of a goal, but that's just stupid because you will inevitably bump into each other in a football matchHapless_Hans wrote:I like it that they don't celebrate or shake hands but then there's a shoving match lmao

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 19/20
Yeah it's silly of course but it's surely for symbolic reasons, not to taunt in front of TV audiences that these players are allowed to do stuff everyone else isn't, and to keep up some kind of role model appearance however absurd it is in terms of infection chances

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 19/20
I see a lot of people criticizing even trying to social distance when it comes to these games, but I think the prevailing thought is to minimize touching as much as possible. It's impossible do that during the run of play, but on goal celebrations? It's absolutely possible. So they don't do it. Makes sense to me. There's room in the middle for moderation.

Great commercial spot for Bundesliga tbh. A little bit of envy for it too. The world behind this league Yesterday. I've followed every match through " diretta gol"
It's Haplessazo today, Union Berlin - Bayern Munchen. Don't miss this !

Ah football, sweet football
Do you suppose the German League will gain some audience/popularity in the long run with this early start??? Yesterday I found some people watching the game who never really cared about it.

Cologne falling apart against Mainz. That 2nd goal from Mainz was the result of some really dire defending.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread 19/20
Perhaps there is something to be said for the quiet, serenity of ghost games on hungover, long weekend Sunday morning, while sipping coconut oil coffee.
It actually sounds louder to me in Koln then it did in Dortmund?
Have the Bavarians traveled to Berlin, or are they following the rules for non essential travel?
Interesting numbers for the Haaland, who of course scored the first goal of Covid football. And by interesting I mean he is the next greatest of all time striker in the universe. Assuming we all live for another year.
Austria (League+Cup): 16 matches / 20 goals / 6 assists
Germany (League+Cup): 10 / 11 / 3
Champions League: 8 / 10 / 1
One goal every:
61 minutes (Austria) / 60 minutes (Germany) / 55 minutes (Champions League)
One goal/assist every:
45 minutes (Austria) / 46 minutes (Germany) / 50 minutes (Champions League)
Already in third place in the race for the Golden Boot despite playing half a season in a league with a lower factor.
