Goal Welbeck. Great header from a Guendouzi cross.

Bring on Nketiah man!

Feel for the dude, Wenger also left him out often because of Welbeck!

But Welbeck works...

I'd bring him on for ElNeny or Guendouzi and play them both upfront.

I know, I know... just feeling for the kid. Hope Emery gives him some minutes at least but with Wele on a hattrick, I doubt it happens.

Nketiah will come in eventually. Probably for Mkhi.

It's just important that our backups get good minutes and confidence, though I do really want to see Eddie get more chances.

Making this half so much harder than it needed to be ffs.

Guendouzi was dumb to give away the free-kick. Leno also did poorly, leaving one side of his goal open but not even getting across to reach a shot that wasn't in the corner.

And we'e had a lot of good counters but not enough end product.

Lacazette 3-1.

He's looked sharp since coming in. Iwobi has had an excellent game as well. He's really playing for a place.

Iwobi works very well for Emery. Direct, quick, stays wide. One of the few who does that in the squad.

Nice win, but it's a bit disappointing that the panic in the players still exists as soon as the opponent scores a goal.

Liverpool and United are out already, possibly Tottenham too. Good stuff.

I don't want to be too critical of him since he is a youngster just coming through the ranks but I'm not convinced by Smith-Rowe yet. As much as our website's interviews today have been focusing on how great he supposedly was, I thought he was a liability yesterday. Meanwhile, Nketiah couldn't even get a minute out there. I guess we need young wingers more than we need strikers but I hope we don't sacrifice Nketiah's development to give Smith-Rowe all of the chances in the first team.

Absolutely no need to send a single key player to Qarabag.

Lacazette and Ozil are on the plane, so you know it's a strong squad.

Short of just taking kids, it's always going to be a decent squad since we've trimmed a lot of four from last year. There's no Chambers, Walcott, Wilshere or Giroud to give games to anymore.

We don't even have that many kids to give minutes to at the moment, either. Maitland-Niles is injured and Nelson's gone out on loan. There's Willock, but it seems Emery would rather give minutes to Elneny and Guendouzi. That leaves Smith Rowe and Nketiah. Everyone else is below first team standard.

I think we'll see this team:

Leno; Lichtsteiner, Sokratis, Holding, Kolasinac; Elneny, Guendouzi; Welbeck, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Aubameyang

Some think Martinez might get a go in goal but I think Emery will want to give Leno more minutes since he's deputising in the PL. Sokratis has missed a couple of games so will probably play over Mustafi. Mkhitaryan won't travel since he can't get in the country, so we might see ESR. Auba up top since he needs the goals.

^ Revision to the above. Auba hasn't travelled due to illness. Neither has Ramsey or Mkhi. Willock has travelled instead and Nketiah may finally get some minutes.

Good stuff. Don't even care if we lose but Fulham at 12pm is far far more important.

Interesting team tonight:

Leno; Holding, Sokratis, Monreal; Lichtsteiner, Elneny, Guendouzi, Kolasinac; Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Welbeck

Subs: Martinez, Mustafi, Bellerin, Torreira, XHAKA, Ozil, Lacazette

Wonder if this is a practice run for Sunday. hmm
