I'm inclined to say he's joking as he's misquoted a lot by Italian media, but 78m wouldn't be at all far off from what we're asking anyway.

He's a lot closer to Madrid than he was yesterday, that's for sure.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze wants to move to England this summer, reports the Mirror.

The 26-year-old is looking to jumpstart his career after he failed to make Germany's World Cup squad this summer.

Arsenal, Everton, West Ham, Leicester and Newcastle are all interested in Gotze, who could cost around £18 million (€21m/$24m).

The Sun are reporting that Juventus are plotting a £25million move for Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt if Alex Sandro moves to Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho is apparently keeping a close eye on the Brazil defender, with Van Aanholt said to be the replacement of choice for Juve.

ARSENAL MAKE LUIZ BID?

Chelsea have reportedly turned down a bid from Arsenal for defender David Luiz.

French outlet Le10Sport say the Gunners have seen a £17m bid knocked back by Chelsea.

Luiz fell out of favour at Chelsea last season but Arsenal have apparently not yet decided whether to make an improved offer.

Barcelona have identified Ilkay Gundogan as a replacement for Andres Iniesta, according to Bild.

there is nothing to question they are high risk gambles. this is the price of not signing Neymar earlier so we are going in and we beat barca on both signings.

Lazar Markovic could finally leave Liverpool for good this summer having seen his career come to a standstill over the past three years.

The winger arrived on Merseyside for £20million in 2014 before struggling to assert himself as a first-team regular under Brendan Rodgers.

His last appearance for the Reds now dates back as far as May 2015, with four years at Anfield entailing four mixed loan spells with Fenerbahçe, Sporting Lisbon, Hull City and Anderlecht.

The latter served as his temporary home over the second half of last season, where he managed just eight appearances and one goal.

Olympiacos are now considering a permanent deal for Markovic after being offered the chance to sign the Serbian by Liverpool, according to Greek outlet Sdna.
