Was he good at Fiorentina?

Yes. It was a good signing. He was the more "vertical" one with good close control and able to bring the ball forward of Fiore's mid 3. Like the other two (Valero, Badelj) he was also able to play a good passing game.

In Fiore's midfield game which always looked like a poor man's version of Pep's Barca to me, Vecino was the Iniesta in terms of role (not level of course). Except Vecino is tall so he is solid defensively.

If Gagliardini had recovered from injury in place of Vecino , Sophocles wouldn't have written his most beautiful tragedy.
