Re: God of War
Gonna go Normal for first playthrough, if I like it as much as the reviews indicate I'll replay it on harder difficulties.
This is how they describe the hardest difficulty BTW.
Not a chance in hell I'm going blindly into that.

Give Me God of War: is the sort of thing reserved for people who wrestle polar bears in their undies. Maybe not quite that, but it’s the most difficult mode in the game. We haven’t just made you weaker or enemies stronger; we’ve looked at enemy behaviors and placements in encounters as well, tweaking everything to make it as threatening as possible. Best of all, you cannot change difficulties once you start a game on this mode, so if you suddenly realize you’re in way over your head, you’ll have to start a new game. Don’t be sorry, be better?

Lads there's people out there being utter *bleep* spoiling the game on a bunch of different social platforms.
I've already had something spoiled due to some *bleep* screen grab and headline for a video I didn't even click on because it was under "recommended" on YouTube.
So yeah be careful, I'm probably going to avoid everything once Yakuza unlocks tonight.

Re: God of War
I'm in love with the combat on this.
The axe is so satisfying to use even without i imagine ( based on the reviews ) the depth that gets added through whatever you unlock later. Throwing the axe and calling it back i don't see it ever getting old, part of this is the feedback you get from the controller through each throw, hit etc etc.
But on top of that when you throw the axe you switch to hand to hand combat with a retractable shield ( which is also used as a weapon) is every bit as satisfying.
Genuinely can't wait to see how the games open up beyond what it's giving me so far, also i'm surprised the challenge it's offering on normal tbh. I've died quite a lot more than i expected, most of it was me making mistakes be it not understanding tendencies or just not controlling distances etc etc but even so i expected it to be easier than it has been.
I'm only not playing it now, because otherwise i'll be playing it all day and night.

Can see why you think that way tbh, design wise I'm getting serious Metroid Prime vibes.

The combat is getting so *bleep* good now the skill three and other stuff is opening up.
The opening stuff feels light years away now and I liked that! Honestly if this keeps up the whole "best ps4 exclusive" hype coming in will definitely be how I feel.

Re: God of War
I’m seriously in love with this game, i love the combat, i love swinging the axe and recalling it, i love runic power system, the levelling the gear, the level design, the backtracking, the story everything. The other day i posted my 4 fave games on twitter, the legit feels like fusion of all those 4 games. It has WoW elements in the progression, gearamd levelling. Metroidvania like world, lots of fun backtracking. SoTC like subtle narrative, huge expansive world, and giant monsters. And Okami like combat in that you customize however you want to play with different flows (heavy, light, hand to hand).
It really is an amazing game, i love everything about it.

@Kaladin
I knew you'd love it when I started to see how the level design really is, as I said it reminds me of Metroid Prime and I really miss that type of game tbh.
I lived on that shit back in the day and there's so few like it now.
- Spoiler:
- I just finished the light bridges bit with all the dark elves last night and I completely agree with you and I'm nowhere near where you are.

Yep, this game feels like a beautiful memoir, a memory of lighter days, an immersive experience that takes you back.
I'm not that far into the game, probably 2-3 hrs after you

I didn't even get my copy until today and just got home, disgusting weather for a new release. Gonna start it tonight after the FA Cup game. Probably will finish it in one sitting tbh.

Re: God of War
It's really good so far. Graphics, Character design, Level design, voice acting. All great.
Can see how Dark souls was inspired by GOW combat.
Also what difficult are you guys playing at? Opted for give me a challenge one. Give me god of war sounded unfair

Re: God of War
I don't get the 10/10 reviews. This game is 9/10 at best. Boss fights are underwhelming and the combat isn't polished enough to be called a 10/10.
Re: God of War
how much time should I set aside for the opening btw? was gonna play for an hour then go eat, might start it later if it takes a while to get going

Re: God of War
depends on difficulty.
Just facing the first boss called Daudi Kommander. Can't get more than 2 hits in without dying lmao

any tips before I start? is there a skill tree? hate when you can't max a tree out during a playthrough.
