Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
There's no way Leicester are offering 120k a week
And after making almost nothing for most of his career, he doesn't turn it down.
I'm sure it's just hard for him to make this decision emotionally after the season that he's had. After all he's gone through with his team
But at 29 this is his last chance to move and get a big contract.

Meh, whatever will be will be is my stance on this. It's perfectly understandable if he wants to stay at Leicester, and it's understandable if he wants to join us. If he doesn't join us, then at least we have the remainder of the summer to bring in someone else while the options are still there, however limited they may be.
In other news, 35mil euros for Mkhitaryan. Let's do it.

He will opt for whatever rewards him better financially - which will invariably be Arsenal. If you were in Vardy's position would it even be worth considering? Hes a late bloomer with plenty to prove - he will want to play at the highest level possible.
I'm with most here and will only truly be happy with signing Vardy if we sign another attacking option. I personally think Giroud and Vardy are good options to have up front. Vardy would be the first proper 9 we have had for a while. Being homegrown is also helpful.
We just need a CB and a better winger than Walcott.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Jamie Vardy's destiny will be known within the next few days as he continues to mull over a move from Leicester City to Arsenal.
City are currently trying to persuade Vardy to stay at the King Power Stadium after the Gunners triggered a £20 million release clause in his current City contract and have offered the England striker a lucrative four-year contract worth £120,000 per week.
Vardy signed a new contract in February which raised his City wage to £80,000 per week but City are trying to persuade him to remain at the club by offering him incentives.
Reports this morning have stated Vardy was to announce his decision before the England squad left for the European Championships in France this morning, but the Mercury understands Vardy will take more time before deciding on his future.

No decision yet from Jamie Vardy on joining Arsenal or accepting Leicetser's counter offer. He is still expected to decide today #AFC #LCFC

If it happens, cool, we have another option in the attack.
If it doesn't, we haven't really missed out on something stellar.
We should definitely invest in another attacking player in either case. Who and for how much - that'll be contingent on this going through.
Well said.

Yes. It's a reverse of one of the Xhaka pics that were leaked.

West Ham still want Theo supposedly
That deal is 100% happening imo. West Ham want to make "big name" signings this summer. They have a ton of money. It just makes sense for him to move there.

Theo Walcott assured of Arsenal future and accepts wide-right role as Wenger pursues Vardy - Telegraph
Not sure how true that is but as long as he knows his role is at wide right it's ok.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsene Wenger is braced for disappointment in his attempt to sign Jamie Vardy.
The striker's current club Leicester came back with an improved contract offer on Monday, and Vardy’s team-mates have made an emotional plea to stop him joining Wenger at Arsenal.
Vardy, 29, had promised the Gunners' boss an answer on Monday, when he flew out with England for Euro 2016 duty in France. But he did not get in contact, leaving the Londoners fearing the worst.
Boss Wenger, who had offered to meet the player’s £20million buy-out clause, believes he would have accepted Arsenal’s offer by now if he was keen to move to the Emirates.
Instead, his silence was deafening.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Hodgson is encouraging Vardy to make a decision before Saturday (acc. to The Times), while I'm also reading Vardy wants to wait until the end of the Euros to make his mind up.
Honestly if he's not signed by the start of the Euros, Arsenal need to move on to other targets. Can't afford to be dicked about by Vardy while other targets are snapped up by rival clubs.

What about this Arkadiusz Milik guy. Never heard of him but he seems to be a good goal scorer

Read his name couple of times in the "Who will be Euro top scorer" thread so I'm led to believe he's legit.

I sort of agree. He has been handed an opportunity of a life time to join us. If he is genuinely dicking around over a decision just retract the offer and move on.

You're not being dicked around. You made an offer to sign him and he can say yes or no. Like with every other transfer that ever happened, except Morata's next one.

It's damn big decision which affects his life next 4 years, give the man sometimes. I would go bald just to think about it tbh

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Shouldn't wait around on Vardy. Give him a deadline for an answer. If he says yes, great. If not, hopefully there's a plan B in place.
I wonder how far down the list of targets Lacazette is if he's even on it. Surprised Wenger doesn't rate him. Like, at all lol.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I hope Jamie Vardy proves me wrong, but I am skeptical because of two reasons;
- He's 29. So he's already past the age which Wenger considers the "peak" years as a striker - 24 to 28yrs old.
- He's a great counter attacking player which is the opposite to how we play these days. How good is his first touch? Close control? Keeping possession? I haven't seen him utilize these skills enough to judge.
I would take Morata over Vardy any day.
