Olivier Giroud has revealed to Sky Sports News HQ that he has been told Jamie Vardy wants to join Arsenal.

Sky sources understand Arsenal are free to talk to the Leicester and England forward after triggering a release clause in his contract with a £20m bid.

Giroud, speaking after scoring twice in France's 3-0 victory over Scotland on Saturday night, says he is excited about the prospect of teaming up with Vardy next season.
"I have been told that Jamie wants to join us and it's very good news for us. I think we can be complimentary and that's all I can say," Giroud told Sky Sports News HQ.

"He's a fantastic player, so it's good news for us."

If this means that we"ll have lesser games in a season with pretend-strikers, and a less-injury-prone alternative to Welbeck to compete up front, I think 20m quid is nothing.

We have quite a summer ahead of us, with everyone knowing everyone has the monies in the PL. Going to see a lot more of much more funny money flying around as this summer progresses, that we might actually consider this Vardy stuff sane and rational by the end of it.
