A message from sources close to Dembélé: "They tell us that there is no money for the renewal we want but they want to sign Haaland". [@santiovalle]
— barcacentre (@barcacentre) December 29, 2021
Renewal talks have broken down it seems. This guy's stint at Barca has been a nightmare yet for some reason he demands Mbappe salary

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Ousmane Dembélé has been approached by two Premier League clubs to sign as free agent, offering big salary. His plan was to stay, but he won’t sign a new deal if Barça don't offer him the salary he demands.

Newcastle and Manchester United are the two clubs that have 100% made contacts with the agent of Dembele. Bayern are following the situation closely, with more clubs also expected to be in the list.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
I don't blame Dembele.
Yes, he's been a flop at Barca and you can't rely on him due to injuries, and general inconsistency.
However, if the team is screaming they are broke and they are using that as reasoning to give you a pay decrease in your next contract, wouldn't you also be annoyed if they're signing 55M players in your position and the media is linking them to big-money names like Haaland?
Especially when the teams who want to sign him as a free agent are offering him the money he probably wants? His entourage is right in telling him to decline the contract, and the only reason he'd accept to stay is that he feels he owes something to Barca for sticking by him during these last 4 years.
The only problem is that if he leaves signing a player of his skillset costs a lot of money. A fast, creative wide forward who can dribble and also be an outlet are some of the most expensive transfers in football.

Klopp didn't manage Dembélé at BVB. The only history they have is that Dembélé rented a house of Klopp and allegedly left it completely trashed lmao

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
No club worth its salt will take him and his garbage attitude (i.e. his exit from Dortmund and training concerns) alongside his insane salary demands.
Couple that with his terrible injury record and a lot of key-choke moments, clubs'd do well to steer clear from him.
Yet Cule fans are having me believe that clubs are lining up and clamoring for their players, what with €32m needed to offset to register Torres, have a look at Umtiti, Coutinho and Dembele's current salaries and tell me which clubs are going to pay hefty fees for them
Can't wait for this club to sink further into the dredges

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
He should get the hell out of Barca. Barca is/was literally the worst possible destination for him, considering their undisciplined training regimen, player power, and lack of proper medical staff, among other things.
There was a report that he sprints about 70% of the time during matches but rarely trains his sprinting during training. It's no wonder he keeps getting injured.
I've never seen a player with this much talent completely and utterly squandering it, in any sport actually. It's infuriating, considering he can be the most exciting player in the world to watch. He has more raw talent than Mbappe and most people don't realize how insanely good he can be because it's rarely ever on display.

Re: Ousmane Dembélé
Alfredo Martínez: Dembélé cost Barcelona €105m plus €20m in variables. He has received about €17m between fixed and variable during these 4 years. More than half the time has been injured. If he thinks he should demand more, it is his right but I'm sorry, he doesn't deserve it.
Toni Freixa: Alfredo, the market decides it, not his merits. If other clubs pay more, it is logical that his agent looks for the best contract.
Alfredo Martínez: I did not say that it is not logical. [He should] show gratitude for what was he's received. I don't believe Barcelona's offer is unworthy.
Toni Freixa: That's how the players are. No surprise to me. To think that he would renew [with a lower salary] to allow the registration of [Ferrán Torres], is outrageous.
Gerard Piqué: Don't generalize with "that's how the players are" [possibly meaning that he has taken a pay cut to allow such transfers to happen?]. It's as if I were to say "that's how candidates are, they don't pay their [campaign] collaborators" [referring to the fact that Freixa still owes €100k to to his presidency campaign workers. Source].
Re: Ousmane Dembélé
We gotta stop with this whole "Dembele is more naturally talented than Mbappe" bs
I saw Gnabry say it. I've seen Laporta say it. I've seen some Barca fans say it too.
Dembele plays like an absolute idiot half the time. Mbappe's footy IQ is so much higher than his it's not even funny. He's a better scorer, more professional, and doesn't get injured. Mbappe can also play anywhere along the front line, while Dembele only ever looked good playing on the right.
Their similarities end with them both being fast players who can dribble. Mbappe is superior in all aspects bar two-footed shooting. If Barca had Mbappe instead of Dembele in these last few years they absolutely win a CL.
