UEFA Super Cup 2015: Barcelona-Sevilla

FC Barcelona will take on Sevilla FC in the second straight all-Spanish UEFA Super Cup at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi on Tuesday 11 August.

Barcelona defeated Juventus in the Champions League final on a Saturday evening in Berlin, automatically qualifying the Spanish giants for a date with their compatriots Sevilla, who won the Europa League title, their second in as many years, the week before.

The La Liga duo also set up an all-Spanish final for the second year in a row and Sevilla’s second Super Cup trip in as many years.

This will be Barcelona’s ninth UEFA Super Cup appearance, yet another record for the Catalans, who have won four and could be tied with AC Milan if they are able to beat Sevilla for the fifth.

The appearance of both Barcelona and Sevilla also guarantee’s a record 11th win by a Spanish club in the event’s history and will be the 22th appearance by Spanish clubs, which is also a record.

The current holders are Spanish club Real Madrid, who won 2–0 against Sevilla in 2014.

Unfortunately, Sevilla are having something of a defensive crisis at the moment. Pareja is still recovering, Carrico injured his foot in training, and Rami and Kolo have been ill. Rami trained today but there's a chance the centre back pairing will be Coke and Krychowiak.

I fully expect Messi to run riot against them as usual.

Yeah I heard they're having some serious problems.

They don't quite match up with their strongest XI and now with a bunch of bench players and newcomers they might really struggle.
