Sarri new Napoli coach

Maurizio Sarri “has already signed” as the new Coach of Napoli, confirmed Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi.

The tactician quit Empoli this week, saying he needed new challenges, and was spotted in Naples last night for a meeting with President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

“They called me and said Sarri has already signed for Napoli,” Corsi told TuttoNapoli.net.

“I am very happy for him, as he deserves it, regardless of the disappointment that he left us. We did everything to keep him here, but it was not possible.

“I would also be happy for De Laurentiis, who finally has a Coach who can really work on tactical and physical issues.

“Sarri will make the Partenopei very happy. It’s impossible that Napoli were 20 points behind Juventus, as the gap at most should’ve been seven with that squad.

“In terms of tactics and physical stamina, our old Coach can give big guarantees.”

Sarri is expected to bring midfielder Mirko Valdifiori and goalkeeper Luigi Sepe – who is already owned by Napoli – with him.

Empoli played the most organized footy in Serie A this season. It was pleasing on the eye as well.

i also heard that you highly rated him the moment he decided to become a coach .

I didnt recognize the name right away but Empoli did very well this year. Still was hoping Napoli would go for a coach with an international profile.

They tried to get Emery but he renewed with Sevilla until 2017. I'm sure not being in the CL hurt them.

Prandelli or Spalletti would've been willing i suppose

He is going to have trouble with the personalities at Napoli. Empoli did not have any stars at all. It may be a disaster.

In all seriousness it's a great moment for Sarri, particularly as a Neapolitan. One would assume he will bring Valdifiori along with him but it will be interesting to see who else he targets. He plays a very attractive brand of football, it will be fascinating to see how he strives to mould the squad now that he will have access to real resources.

Never said others did not. I saw his good work at Empoli, his style of play is aesthetically pleasing and unlike Zeman it got results in Serie A. I preferred to get him over Sinisa for Milan. His progress at Napoli will be interesting to follow with better players but bigger egos.

Getting Sarri would have involved following Sacchi's advice and that would make far too much sense.

Though mild looking his training regimes are known to be quite brutal and he's apparently quite a tough personality so I think he'll manage to keep things under control. It's not like there's been much of an ego problem before with the Napoli squad so I don't think there'll be any issues.

Its a bit staggering to see the Napoli players blast Rafa, Hamsik just claimed that he would've left Napoli if he stayed.

Anyway, i think Sarri is an amicable appointment for Napoli. I'm sure he'll bring his buddies from Napoli (Rui, Valdifiori, Tonelli, etc) however if Higgy does leave i'm curious to see who they'll bring, could Falcao join yet another team not in the CL?

Also, that defence needs to be overhauled, Koulibaly, Britos, etc aren't gonna cut it if they want to make top 3.

Rafa has a reputation as being very harsh in his trainings so I'm not surprised.

Come to think of it, Rafa has caused some internal discord in every club he managed (bar Pool) i believe
