On topic I agree that the move to the old offside rule would be ridiculous, no Barca goal would have counted back when we had Villa in our team.

The old offside rule was stupid which is why they changed it in the first place. Imagine you score a 45yarder and because your striker is a shoulder offside it doesn't get counted even though he was nowhere near actively doing anything to disrupt the play of the defensive team.

WC matches between "big" teams are nearly always the worst games of the tournament, so the less of those we have the better. I'm all for increasing the size of the WC.

Most games are bad in high profile knockout tournaments. Paraguay - Japan in 2010 was the worst football game in history. Small teams don't necessarily guarantee a "hey, we have nothing to lose, at least let's make it entertaining" attitude. Costa Rica parked the bus throughout the tournament. DAT Costa Rica - Greece game. Etc.

It's not about high profile games or not, fact is 40-48 teams are too much. It would just drag out far too much, it's enough as it is.

Getting rid of qualifiers and lessening the load during the club season... and adding an additional round of pool play in the WC has merit to it.  This is assuming FIFA actually gets rid of NT games during the CY.  Right now, there are too many games between club and NT in a season and most of the top players arrive at the Euro/WC completely exhausted and with very little time to prepare.

It used to be like that until 1986... in 1982, you had 2 rounds of pool play and then the semis.  Not this many teams obviously... but it's not a new concept to have a dual pool final competition.

Why not add more teams and make the world cup as retarded as possible and have more games so the players can get even less rest as IMO they are already the most overworked players in any major sport.

Hell The Euro's have 24 teams in it now, yes that is correct 24 teams 8 less than the entire world gets for the world cup. So let's make the Euro qualifiers and the world cup qualifiers mean even less.

I mean there's already enough players getting injured in these games why not have them mean basically nothing, that is the way to go.

I mean when does this all stop? Was there really any team that didn't make the world cup last cycle that could have won it? Was there some team out there deserving to go that didn't go?

I mean what in the hell would anyone want to see a World Cup with over 48 teams, why not just let everyone in and give everyone a trophy.
