After signing Mancini, Podolski and Shaqiri, how far can Inter go?
Seems to me they have a good enough team to challenge for 3rd. What will their team look like?
Handanovic
Campagnaro - Ranocchia - Juan Jesus - D'Ambrosio
Hernanes - Guarin
Shaqiri - Kovacic - Podolski
Icardi

Napoli's defense is worse and they're tieing for 3rd though. Lazio's as well. At least they have a GK capable of pulling some great performances, which neither of those teams can claim.

As much as I hate to admit it, they're definitely up there for 3rd with Napoli, I'd even say favorites if they can narrow the gap in the coming weeks.
Ridiculous we get Cerci (and we were delighted to get him too) and they get Shaqiri and Podolski

Defence is the problem. Handanovic is great, D'Ambrosio is legit he could be easily a NT starter considering our current fullbacks , the rest ....it looks like everytime as an impssible result to get a clean sheet .. I don't dare to imagine if we had even a scrub GK..
3rd place is gone this year imo,, we had not keep Mazzarri , you can realize the massive difference among Mazzarri and Mancini on signings. We never would have signed those 2 players under him . For tactical reasons and appeal . Isla was rated the offensive reinforcement under him .
But at least we must build as Mancini did with his arrival in Manchester City after Hughes' season. Got a 5th place and put the stones for following years. I'd satisfief for this.
Anyway we will take a real DM too.
No chance for Guarin to be starter in this system .
Guarin could become a good midfielder box to box, but it failed to do it , he is not reliable to defend . I thin he is going to be easily a bencher.
Infact Gazzetta dello Sport writes we are close to sign Lucas Leiva. Although it seems strange to me , because he's playing starter with Liverpool. But anyway we're searching a similar profile.

They'll get CL football after Rafa leaves Napoli and comes home to Liverpool.

But they need a backup for Icardi.

They have Palacio and Osvaldo. Surely they do as back ups.

And with good fullbacks their defence will be sorted imo. Will Mancini make a move for Micah Richards? Rodwell?

Re: After signing Mancini, Podolski and Shaqiri, how far can Inter go?
Inter can reach 3rd place , definitely . Of course it will depend on their course in the EL too. Given with the chance of being in the final i doubt they will invest fully in that 3rd place. If they can't reach the final , which is normal , i think they have what it takes , especially if they gtfo relatively early.
They will need at least one more defensive signing , imo and they will be openly targeting 3rd place in the months to come. Who that would be , i couldn't tell.

Osvaldo seems to be leaving and Palacio? He is no more the player he had been two seasons ago. You cant rely upon a washed up product to deliver.

Re: After signing Mancini, Podolski and Shaqiri, how far can Inter go?
Palacio is finished after the World Cup . psychological impact + age. He was great last year but he is useless now . Osvaldo is leaving Inter , he has quarrelled even with Mancini not only Icardi . So yes we need of another back up now, we'll see , at least the usual Osvaldo madness happened now and we have time to remedy.

They should continue to buy players with an "i" as the last or second-to-last letter in their surname.

Re: After signing Mancini, Podolski and Shaqiri, how far can Inter go?
Jokes aside, Podolski and Shaqiri should have a huge impact on how we play. 3rd place would be in the bag if the season started today, but now we're 8 points behind it will be a struggle. If we dont drop stupid points we should be able to take advantage of the inconsistancy of Lazio and Napoli. 4th or 5th place should be sealed, CL is a bit of a long shot.

Ps. Mancini will find a way to fail with that team.

That's Milan's thing, we loan with the obligation to buy after 2 seasons.
On other news, Shaqiri revealed that the only reason he choose Inter is Mancini. Dat appeal

Mancini did well with inter in serie A the last time he was there .
Milan not winning the scudetto for years after 2004 had a lot to do with Mancini's inter being that good , not just becaue carlo " sucks " in the league .

Re: After signing Mancini, Podolski and Shaqiri, how far can Inter go?
Mancini is meh in Europe but he was always legit in leagues. Even with the devstated Lazio 2002-2004 , that Lazio was in a transition period because it was close to bankrupt as Fiorentina under Cecchi Gori but it was saved basically because it is a Roman club, politician reasons.
But it was obliged to sell all his best players anyway , Alessandro Nesta Pavel Nedved J.S. Veron etc . It was the worst Lazio of last 20 years under Mancini but got 3rd place, and Uefa Cup semifinal in his first year , 5th place and Coppa Italia and 5th place in 2nd year , and playing a great football ( yes, at the beginning Mancini was more similar to Montella than Capello ) .
The change from Hughes to Mancini was also decisive for Manchester City history.
Basically Mancini is good to build the teams, and this is the hope for we Inter fans. Surely he can't be worse than Mazzarri because at least he likes good players and not Dodò or Medel.

Re: After signing Mancini, Podolski and Shaqiri, how far can Inter go?
Speaking of Inter, it's amazing how much two signings has done to them.
Shaqiri, Icardi and Kovacic are legit talents. Just need to get some classy mature players around them. They've done that with Podolski, but they still need to improve in that regards imo. If they get Leiva (and a few defenders) I think they're legit. Not sure on Mancini though.
