would be interesteing to compare the two, as it seems to me the accuracy and authenticity of these salary figures is always very dubious.

especially with this xy millions, xy hundred thousands, xy thousands AND seventy dollars. lol.

Yes just call one of the best tacticians of all time clueless despite not having a background on the excellent work Capello has done with a Russian team in depression, taking them to a World Cup despite their pathetic squad followed by Akinfeev costing him a total of four points. Russian squad is utter garbage as they missed their only creative player forcing him to completely change the system.

You're sounding like the English who only rate him based on his England tenure to which also was a squad of egos forming islands of mutiny based on their club crest and half the professionalism to boot with it.


Ask any Russian who actually HAS followed Capello's overall tenure and it has been nothing short of fantastic.

Exactly.

The reason for the disparity in remuneration between Capello and Pinto is so obvious.

Capello is being paid so much because 1) he has incredible experience winning trophies; and 2) the Russians are cashed up. On the other hand, you have Pinto who 1) has not won anything outside of Costa Rica, Peru and Venezuela; and 2) is coaching a team that can't afford to pay big money no matter how good he is.

Capello has won Serie A 5 times, La Liga 2 times and the Champions League once... "clueless" indeed. You really haven't turned your mind to the issue before writing that comment.

Nah, he's clueless. Maybe he was better in the past with greater motivation, but now he's just riding his reputation from one bloated paycheck to another while failing to deliver the results on the pitch for about a decade.

Also, he's been lucky enough to always manage a big club / team. Milan, Roma, Juventus, Real Madrid, England, Russia. You let Gil manage those teams for nearly 30 years and he's going to win something, too.

Art I respect you, but I cannot even begin to respond to this post as it is a post of one who has not followed Capello's legendary career, at all let alone his multi-dimensional Russian career. It's been obvious England is the only tenure you've seen him in as the remark of a "decade" is blatant hyperbole. Your post, only reinforcing my previous point.


@Forza: Thank you. Pinto is a drop in the pond compared to Capello as yes there were decisions Capello could have made to seal Russia's progress yet he is being clearly scapegoated for his squad mistakes (especially Akinfeev) while the unenlightened will ignore the work he's performed with Russia.

Most don't even know his role transcends all the way to Russia 2018 and not for the World Cup. The latter to reduce the mammoth gap between old and young.

His achievements, being wrongfully blighted by the farce that was Calciopoli also revoking two Scudetti from his name.

You won't see him bring tactical revolutions as he once did yet partially it is down to his very laid back approach to the game now as his career reachs nigh end.

what did he achieve with russia arq ?
qualifying to the world cup had more to do with portugal's usual shit form in the qualifiers , dropping points to the likes of israel and northern ireland ...
lots of world cup managers did more than him with a fracture of the salary and an even shitier team...
