Re: All about Mesut Özil
He IS world class.
But, his fitness is horrific.
No winter break in the PL... killed him. I don't know if he is just too lazy to work on it properly or if he has some underlying issue. But the European football season is long, and intense. But he just can't handle the English game. Being rested is entirely necessary quite often, something Madrid understood and that Arsenal obviously haven't quite gotten an idea of (perhaps they have NOW though...)
He is a special player ... The pen is just... not even worth discussing (many players f*** up pens).
But, his fitness is horrific.

Well, you can see it either way - if he would have scored, then everybody would have said "See, he scored it because he knew him since his childhood."la bestia negra wrote:how ever i don't think its a good idea taking it against some one you have known since your childhood day's

Some people simply don't have the capacity to develop high stamina.
If all footballers could develop the same skills, football would be a boring sport. Ozil is not lazy, but he doesn't have the stamina to play as many games as he has been playing with no breaks at all.

BUMP
It's absolutely astonishing how poor the guy is playing atm.
I don't buy this "but that's just his game bullshit". He was bought by the thesis that he is a world class player. Even if he hasn't run his socks off and put in more effort into his game before in his life, world class players are supposed to adapt, no? If Ozil is really that good then he would work extra harder on the training ground to boost his stamina and improve his impact on the pitch come matchday.
I can't understand people who continue to defend him. Any straight minded person who has watched all of Arsenal's matches since his time at Arsenal, like I have, will know how underwhelming and FRUSTRATING 99% of his performances has been.
I call for a drop in the squad. He has to realise that his shitty performances on the pitch is resulting in his place in the side being under jeopardy. It's just simple as that! How can we continue to play with 10 men for 80 minutes every match?

Re: All about Mesut Özil
He is by far Arsenal's worst player in nearly every game.
The guy looks like he has zero desire to win games man...those shots in first half, lost count of how many times he lost the ball second half. ruined so many attacks by himself.
I am not going to complain though, love the fact that Wenger starts him every game, (because it weakens a rival team)

Re: All about Mesut Özil
Arsenal sometimes play too slowly in the final third, like today against Man City, making unnecessary passes and dribbles. I'm not sure whether to think that this doesn't suit Özil's game or that is Özil part of the problem.

Drop Özil from the squad
You don't drop one of your best players in the squad, you adapt him and make sure he's in his preferred position surrounded by players who make the best of him. When he moved centrally in the second half you could see how good he is, was heavily involved in both our goals against the champions.

No lie, I only realized he was playing today in the 30th min when the commentator mentioned his name. Just goes missing far too much.

So we're just going to stick with someone who is tremendously underperforming game-by-game.

No, what we need to do is play him on his natural position where he can show his true quality instead of trying to force this 4-3-3 when it's not suiting half our players.

Re: All about Mesut Özil
Its being overstated how poor he was. Yet again. A lot of our chances in the first half came through his passing and ability to create space for his team mates.
If people still don't get the way Ozil plays then not much one can do. As stated by numerous others in the thread, Ozil is not the catalyst. He is the type of player who makes everyone around him play better with his intelligent movement on the ball, and by creating space for those around him.
I'm not saying he played well, but he did play a much bigger part of our dominance in the first half than people seem willing to believe, from an unfavourable position on the left.

Re: All about Mesut Özil
Isn't the fact that he has been pushed out to the wings by Wilshere and Ramsey indicative that he has been in poor form for 2014, regardless of position played? I remember watching him play LW at Werder and thinking he was pretty good.urbaNRoots wrote:No, what we need to do is play him on his natural position where he can show his true quality instead of trying to force this 4-3-3 when it's not suiting half our players.

After assisting six goals in his opening 10 Premier League games for Arsenal, Mesut Özil has created only three in his last 19.

Since January he has not played well, Ozil reminds me a lot of Berbatov. Ozil need to start the next games on the bench, but Wenger does not have the balls to drop him.

Özil wasn't in such poor form to change a whole formation because of him, yes he didn't get as many assists as he usually does because 1). He has been injured for almost half of 2014 and 2) We absolutely lacked runners, goalscorers and speed in our team after Ramsey's/Walcott's injury.
In my opinion the 433 is being used because we want better protection for Arteta in midfield AND because Wilshere will get playing time that way. Wenger has seen Löw put Özil there, but Löw was forced to do that after Reus' injury and will move Özil back centrally once Reus is fully fit, let's see if Wenger will do that once Walcott comes back.

Re: All about Mesut Özil
Doesn't Germany play with 3 midfielders other than Ozil? Namely 3 of Lahm, Piggy, Khedira and Kroos. Low uses a 433 and sometime even a 343 from what i saw... Ozil doesn't figure in the midfield of any of those. he's always on the front line with Mueller, Goetze and Schurrle occupying the 2 other spots.
Never seen Germany run a 4231 with a 10/AM under Low.
He doesn't play enough defense AND he doesn't have the work rate to play CM. So unless a team plays a 4231, Ozil has to play as a creative wing player. Even in a 442, you need the 10 to play some defense nowadays as your two strikers usually aren't good at it.

Exactly, everytime I see Germany playing, Ozil is outwide.
Well most of the times at least. He drifts in centrally sometimes, but that's about it - sometimes.

Just play him at CAM in a 4-2-3-1 with at least 1-2 pacey players in attack.
Not out wide in a 4-2-3-1 with 50 other midfielders.

Re: All about Mesut Özil
The only thing i've ever asked from Ozil is effort... run hard. If you miss or have bad games then that's fair. I would never blame him. I could eventually say that he's not quality enough (never going to be a problem for Ozil)... but he disappears.
He's not a striker. You can't blame lack of service for not being involved. As a AM/10, you can go get the ball.

Is Benzema a striker ?
