Lamela looking terribly awful

One of the worst wide men display I've seen in recent years. Perhaps as bad as Downing vs. United at Old Trafford almost 2 years ago.

No wonder he can't even get off the bench for Spurs in the league....Towsend offers 10 times more based on that display.

Can;t see him breaking into Spurs XI anytime soon......maybe Roma knew something to push him out hmm

It was also reported he was desperate to stay in Rome, so maybe his heart isn't set.

All in all, he was absolutely, woefully out of his depth against a team bottom of Russian league Laughing

Hope he flops as hard as he can.I would love to see Juve bring him back to Italy.

In the right conditions he can excel imo.

Better players have looked worse on Russian soil. You can't judge him on a single match, especially when he has looked rather good in all the other matches he has played, and even assisted a match-winning goal.

But seriously, take a chill pill. He's young and he's can't speak a word of English. He needs time to adapt to everything from the life in England, to everything else football-wise.

Meh, to be fair the entire game was sloppy for Spurs, but they were playing far away from home, in the cold, and on a pitch that looked like it hadn't been trimmed in 3 weeks (not surprising given that Anzhi didn't even play this game at their home ground). Yet they still won comfortably, which in the end is all that matters.

To be honest this was Lamela's first average game for us. Every other game he's shown the flashes of brilliance that we expected when we signed him. However, I just think his future at Spurs is on the left if Townsend continues with this ridiculous form he's on right now.

Also remember that at Roma he played for a squad who didn't heavily rotate players. Instead, the only changes Roma made last season had to do with injuries and Osvaldo going crazy.

So you have: 1) New environment; 2) new teammates almost every time he plays; and 3) as if it wasn't hard enough to develop chemistry he doesn't speak pretty much any English . He'll be fine, I expect him to exhibit the Dempsey effect and really come on for us around November/December.

I watched the match and he wasn't that bad. Stop making it looking like he played like shit when he didn't Laughing

He had some good touches on the ball and he played a part in both goals. He did have some wayward passes though, perhaps that was due to the pitch they were playing on. He helped out defensively as well.

It wasn't his best game, but he's still adapting to Spurs system and life in England, kid does not even know a word of English according to AVB.

I am always surprised at the gamesmanship some teams try by altering the field.

Is that just part of the game, or conceding that your team isn't good enough and needs help to compete against an obviously superior team?

It annoys me to no end when watching the USMNT play away in CONCACAF qualifying. I think the only "flat" pitch" we play on away from home is that dump Azteca.

While I think it's too early to judge him and he has had some promising moments, it is fair to wonder whether he was worth all that dough.

The tricky thing is that he's at an age where he needs games and he needs to be on top of his game to get them at Tottenham...
