Yes, the SSN reporter said Viviano is official. €1million fee with option to buy after 1 year. Other teams were in for him.

Ba is a good enough stop-gap solution, next summer we'll sign a "super super quality" striker as Wenger would say.

We could've had Higuain though, if Wenger didn't ditch him for Bitey.

Viviano on loan with option to buy could be a good safe policy. Not much to lose if it doesn't work out, and a year-long trial period ensues ...

Ba (or any striker) on loan seems less ideal. But it would seem that Ba would just be a place holder. I don't think he's a bad player at all. He just has patches of good and not-so-good form. He'd be good for squad depth I think.

Jackson Martinez, though? Yup, that guy would be terrific.

Özil ... Özil ... Özil. It seems so close we can taste it. Reputable sources reputing the move. But until it's officially confirmed I don't want to think anything. It's in a position I don't know that is really a priority to strengthen, but at the same time, you don't pass up a chance to get a player that good. Indisputably "world class," whatever your definition of world class is. It's the signing we've been waiting for, over the years. I feel bad for the guy though. Trying to read between the lines, it seems like Özil was gently but firmly ushered out by RM despite being happy to remain in Madrid. To me this seems crazy on RM's part. I know that RM have other really great AM's but still. Anyhow, Gooners can make Özil feel rightly welcome and appreciated.

1 year loan for both Ba and Viviano are good choice, Ba has crocked knee, 1 more injury there, you could assume the worst. Viviano value is £7.5m, quite alots so loan is fine. No to Abe Hernadez, injury prone. Yes to Jackson Martinez, i would rather get hom straight than loan Ba and let him slip to Chelsea.

Much like Arsenal have in recent years shot themselves in the foot but recovered by the end of the season to clinch CL qualification, Arsene & Co. might be pulling off an incredible deadline day salvage job. Will it be perfect? No. But it might still be incredibly good.

The best of possible scenarios would have seen business done earlier in the window. I'll always believe that. But with the (admittedly self-imposed) restriction being that Arsenal would do all of its spending at the very tail end of the window ... this could look like one hell of a pattern-breaking tour-de-force from Wenger. Not a desperation trolley dash, either. (We all hope.) On the back of solid victories virtually without signings against Spurs, Fulham, and Fenerbahce ...

We can get Jackson Martinez if we want, but Porto won't sell under £40m. I don't believe Wenger is ready to pay that *for him*. If we wanted J. Martinez we could've had him earlier in the summer... I think Wenger will wait for a "super super quality" striker (Benzema, Rooney, Suarez etc.) and sign someone on loan for now.
