I guess Ronaldo will be used as the CF now? That's the only way Ancelotti can utilize Bale, Isco and him in the same team.

the thing I like about bale tho is that he is like Ronaldo. Somebody who is willing to improve on a daily basis and works hard both on and off the pitch. I doubt he will have a problem playing for us but for that ridiculous fee id just keep the squad the way it is but Perez obviously has already dismissed that thought unfortunately. I mean our depth will be scary but is it worth it??

As I said, Spurs could have prime Pele, Maradonna and Socrates in the squad, they always find a way to stuff it towards the end. This season will be no different

Doesn't that midfield look a bit frail defensively? Could win easily against weaker teams but will be exposed against top sides.

the idea is that Illaramendi stays back, Ozil and Isco helping the fullbacks. Now it will only work if we do this. we didn't do it until casemiro was subbed in vs Betis and very nearly paid dearly for it. I can see dimaria starting over ozil in big games tho or bale if he shows alot of defensive comittments

Modric still has a lot to do to prove that he deserves to be in our best XI, that goes for a lot of guys anyway. What is important is that we have a group of 15-16 guys of high quality.

he has played both as a CDM and DLP for Sociedad so he won't have a problem slotting in there if thats whats Carlo is thinking imo. he is a great tackler and good passer. The perfect player we need for our posession football we are intending to play.

We have only seen him for a half vs Bournemouth and 30 mins vs Lyon so we don't know how he will turn out yet

Of course it is.....

But Milan had a similarly weak midfield from a defensive point of view and struggled to win leagues because of it.

I'm expecting the same from this Madrid team, they will go closer in the CL though.

Modric, Illaramendi, Alonso, Khedira and Casemiro is pretty good for 2 spots. I don't think the midfield is thin... finding the right combos is more challenging.

Personally think that team will do better in the league than it will do in CL.

We were defensively weak with Mou but we outscored any opponent we met in our 100 points season, hence why we finished so good in the league.

CL is more punishing and if you concede it's harder to score one back. We need to be more defensively solid in CL imo.

Exactly. That midfield would work in La Liga but Ancelotti would not play with such a team in like, CL knockout stages.

Its not that its thin.... its defensively weak, almost any combo imaginable is poor defensively and will put the defence under a lot of pressure without the ball.

Not to mention neither fullback are very good defenders anyway.

As i said before its eerily similar set up to Ancelotti's Milan and i expect similar results..... CL success but inconsistent league results.
