haha thanks bro, didn't have so much time, uni/work etc...

It wasn't a great season after all, but not bad either... hopefully next season will be better with the signing of Neymar and 2 DEFENDERS

Its the same definition of an assist (with or without goal).
Example: Xavi provided 74 assists this season (just 12 of them ended with agoal).

I don't know how this stat is done, but it's clearly wrong. Adriano scored the 1st goal vs. Valencia, Getafe, Celta de Vigo and Atletico.

man the goal spread from the last 2 seasons are atrocious . Really hope next season it will be more spread out between our forwards.

It's done by taking their stats out and looking how many points Barca lose. It measures the importance of the direct statistics, and/or how well the team plays. 1 goal in example 3-2 win is more important than 1 goal in 5-0 win. From those goals only against Valencia gave 2 points.

That does not make sense Jiopsi. Why would the first goal in a 3-2 win be more important than the first goal in a 5-0 win? IMO, that should be of equal importance.

Because it's needed for the 3 points, goal in 5-0 isn't. Take away it and Barca lose 2 points, take away goal from 5-0, and the team were still good enough to get 3 points. It measures clutchness and importance.

You cannot look at the overall score and measure clutchness or importance. You have to look at the situation before the goal was scored. How late into the match was the goal scored? What was the scoreline when the goal was scored? For example, the first goal scored at 40th minute of 5-0 match is, IMO, relatively clutch than the first goal scored in the 10th minute of a 3-2 win, provided the scores were 0-0 in both instances before the goal was scored.

Looking at the overall score fails to take this into consideration.

Of course you can, just like you can count goals and assists. Their difficulty and importance is also individually different, but in statistic laws of average tends to average things out. If Adriano scored 1 first goal which did matter, and one that didn't, chances are, that others did too. When scoreline is more even, own team plays worse/ opponent better, goals are more important.

Statistics aren't the whole truth, but they are indication of the truth.

I agree if we are talking about the entire length of a player's career. But, IMO, one season is too short to measure importance by looking at the overall score. If the means is there, which it is, the data should be recorded precisely.

If we are looking at the clutch factor of Maradona, then i agree with your methodology as it would average out. But,over one season, i am doubtful.

Well it's the same with goals and assists, and with every statistic. The bigger the sample size, the better it is. This was just the way to delve deeper, from just goals and assists. And like you said, you can go even deeper by looking them even more carefully. But you can't never find a perfect equation to 100% accurately point the overall quality by a number.

Player 1 is better
-> scored more ->> scored more important goals
-> created more
->> assisted more ->>> assisted more important goals
->> made more key passes
->> made more throughballs
->> dribbled more ->>> dribble that led to a goal ->>>> dribble that led to a more important goal

and so on...
