BVB - Youth/Amateurs Sarr1

Via Twitter, Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed the transfer of the 17-year-old junior national team member Marian Sarr to champions Borussia Dortmund. The change will take place during the winter break.

http://www.derwesten.de/sport/fussball/bvb/nachwuchstalent-sarr-wechselt-von-leverkusen-zum-bvb-id7426020.html

Apparently Sarr had a release clause in which he was allowed to leave for a fixed sum (which is not known publicly yet). Extremely talented centre-back who already played in the 'Regional liga" with Bayer AND with the German national team. I'm glad he's chosen the BVB.

Well, Mitch has the unfortunate problem that he is the Nr.2 behind a very solid Nr.1 in Roman Weidenfeller. Poor boy had to sit on the bench and watch the matches all the time this season and only got 3 full matches in the 3rd Liga with Dortmund II. Last season he got three DFB-Pokal matches, but somehow this season he was benched for these, too, and the next DFB-Pokal match against Bayern will very likely be Roman's, too.

I thought that. He seems to have good games against Bayern though he has to face the feeling of being on the bench

Well, so far Mitch has a 100% success rate against Bayern (2 wins in 2 matches, IIRC). Not many keepers can boast about that Very Happy

As long as he develops well through training I'm fine as we need someone to replace Mark and he looks like the guy alongside Ryan... At a young age, he needs to develop as a keeper and a great club liked Dortmund is the go.

Well, it probably would be better for him to get some regular playing time, but whenever he was called to stand in for Roman Weidenfeller, he did so exemplary. So it seems he does train well and so far he seems to be okay with his bench place.

Mitch Langerak played for Dortmund in the final of the Wintercup 2013 in Düsseldorf today and he saved the deciding penalty in the penalty shoot-out for Dortmund's win of said Cup. cheers

Guys, among the youngsters, I watched more of Hoffman than anyone else so I feel like he will rise above the rest of them (because he was so damn good).. Am I right in saying this or is there someone better than him among the youth ranks?

You're right about that. While we never know if a young player who has great potential actually becomes a great player, Hofmann is possibly the best talent in BVB II right now with Amini and Ducksch.

Then there are Leitner and Bittencourt who are loaned/sold to other clubs (because they're *too* good to stay on the bench) but can come back if they reach a higher level in two-three years.

Do you think any of the Dortmund youths is ready to feature in 10 games this season! There are some chinks like R&LWB, retirement of Kehl and deperture of Lewa; so I was thinking if any of the youths can start mixing with big boys to take (or challenge) their place.

Watch out for Hofmann, he'll play the most games among the youngsters, Sarr or Günter (depends who Klopp prefers more) might feature sometimes aswell. Duksch probably won't make the bench most of the time because of Lewandowski/Schieber.

Dortmund are building a team with strong depth so it becomes a little harder for the youngsters to start games but they won't be overlooked by Klopp, that's for sure.

Two days ago (I think) I saw an interview with Jürgen Klopp on Sport1, and he said that he is quite happy to have a team of about 17 players of starting quality as this means there is still ample of space to fit in youngsters, as it is Dortmund's philosophy to give youngsters a chance, too, while trying to stay competitive.
