FC Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes the Spanish league is more competitive than the English.
Amid ongoing comparisons between La Liga and Premier League, former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas claims that the Spanish league is stronger despite arguments that it's often a 2 horse race.
"I think the best teams are always the same - us (Barcelona), Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Manchester United," Fabregas told Gazetta dello Sport.
"Liga boring (because only Barcelona and Real Madrid can win)? No, I was surprised discovering that the Spanish League is more competitive than Premier."
"Barca and Madrid are so strong and it is difficult for other clubs to keep their pace. But in England you can win the Premier League even if you lose five or six games."
"Here, if we lose or draw one match there is the risk that the Liga is already lost, so it is more difficult. Besides Spanish teams are tactically stronger, it is more difficult to score and make assists here."

The league is lost after a tie or a lost for Barca because Real Madrid and Barca steam roll over the other teams. So if either one drops points there is a low chance the other team will drop points because the competition is not that great.
That is why the classico can determine the league because barca and madrid don't drop points in other games. In EPL on any given week one of the top teams can lose, so if you drop points you can still count the lower teams to take points from your top rivals.

I don't think thats true, I think the PL is overrated. You guys gave chelsea a run for their money last year, as well as bilbao with manchester united

Bundesliga is the most competitive league.
However when it comes to the best league, Cesc is right, Laliga is the best. It depends on what kind of football you like.
Teams like Rayo Valecano, Levante, Betis etc are just as good on the ball as anyone. There are no STOKEs!!! In EPL, i get annoyed with so many small teams who cant keep the ball!!!
Laliga games have a good flow to them and are good on the eye. There are less donkey tactics, and more natural talent and flair is encouraged.
Its a 2 horse race atm but from 3rd downwards, there is just as much competition as any league. The rivalry btwn madrid and barca makes up for this tho. approx 8/10 of the best players in the world are also on display just btwn these 2!!!.
I also like the fact that small teams have a go vs bigger teams. Regardless of headlines, small teams hardly bend backwards for barca/madrid.
Sevilla. Athlet. Valencia, Bilbao, Betis, Malaga, Getafe, Mallorca, Espanyol all have very technical players. Laliga is filled with so much quality!!!!

He' right. La Liga simply has superior teams compared to any other league. Just because Real and Barca are a league above other teams doesn't mean La Liga isn't competitive considering the teams below them would outplay many other teams from leagues. So much quality and technique in all the teams.

I don't think being the 'best league' is judged just by whether a team in one league is better than a team in another league.

I agree with him for once. If you watch la liga extensively you'll find EPL boring. I don't follow EPL anymore for the exact same reason. Players there are nowhere near as skilled as their la liga counter parts.

Here's the deal. As of right now Barca and MAdrid would win any league. I don't know why people from other leagues talk shit about La Liga being a 2 horse race when it would be the same exact thing in other leagues if they were in them.
I mean take United vs Bilbao last year. Bilbao finished 10th in La Liga, yes folks 10th. I'm sorry but the 10th team in the EPL has a 0% chance of playing Barca or Madrid off the park in two legs no less.
Maybe they could get lucky and nick a game from them but to totally outplay them over two legs in almost every aspect of the game from shots, shots on target, corners, possession, passing percentage etc etc it just would never happen.
People who talk down La Liga IMO just don't watch it. Or they hate either Barca or Madrid. Plain and simple.
Is the league run poorly? yes
Are most the teams in bad debt? yes
Did a CL team get so screwed up they sold Santi F'ing Cazorla for pennies on the dollar? Yes
BUT
Is spain producing the best players in the world at the moment? Yes
Are they the best technicians in the world and judges of talent? yes
Do they exclude players for being small or lacking pace? No
Are most or almost all of Spanish teams made of mostly Spanish players? Yes
Can you take a province in Spain and use only there players to make a team that has the power to throttle Man U? Yes
Could Multiple provinces do this? Yes
Could that ever happen in England? No
Do the best players in Spain go abroad? No
Do the players who do go abroad dominate the leagues they play in? Yes
To sum it up the league is run like shit. But the foundation is so good in La Liga that as hard as they try and screw it up they just keep churning out players and at the end of the day people want to see good players play attractive football not rugby or parking the bus or kick and chase and that is why La Liga will never go away as the best league because they have about 14 teams who no matter what still play good football, 2 teams who challenge each other for the best team in Europe and domestically and 4 teams who are run good enough to be a major pain in the ass to everyone else in Europe.

Sure Bilbao were very impressive and thoroughly deserved the victory against United, but using this victory as a way to measure Spanish league's competitiveness just doesn't make sense to me. The reason is simple: Bilbao's victory is more suitable to be taken as a measure of the club's strength rather than a measure of a league's competitiveness! (Edit: not talking about Europa League)
To me, a league's competitiveness can only be judged based on performances of its member clubs. Are Manchester United a member of La Liga?

Quality wise I have to agree with most here, La Liga is by far the most superior league in the world but nothing beats EPL presentation wise. The way you present your entertainment to the people counts more than the actual quality of it.

Don't see what's wrong with what he said. You have more room for error in other leagues. In La Liga you have none, because you have two super-teams. That being said it makes the league harder, not "competitive", if we define competitive as the ability of a scrub team to beat a big team. But that might just be an issue of semantics or (likelier) from whoever translated that.
