i dont know how much hes worth,but i would not hesitate in spending 40M on him,mainly for his age.

Torres value outside the pitch is significantly higher, he is worth a lot more because of commercial revenue he brings.

He was also worth more because he went to a direct rival, and the Abramovich factor.

Sure but Fab is younger, arguably about to reach his prime, while Torres seems to be towards the wrong end of it.

He is a midfield general like you cant hardly find on the market, the kind of player that will marshall your team through the middle of the park and make the other play. He doesnt rely on athelticism so his injuries doesnt impede his game, cerebral playmaker. He will certainly turn into a "franchise" player for your team as well.

Here we go again another Cesc saga. Cesc is worth 50 million because he is a proven player, in the toughest and probable the strongest league in the world.

Torres was paid 50 million to score a goal in rainy day vs a shity team, he should not be compare to Cesc. Cesc has more influential on team.

I don't really know anymore - Alonso went for 35 million 2 years ago, relatively similar transfer (great, but not the RICHEST EPL clubs ---> Madrid/Barcelona; most important player pretty much of team), only that Alonso was older BUT also in his prime...

In that sense, he would be worth the same, because I think that Alonso was somewhat better at the time of transfer...

On the other hand if TORRES is worth 50 million... Or Neymar is worth 45 million... Villa is worth 40 million... Then Fabregas is worth 50 million too.

Well, because most recent high profile transfers have been over forwards.
And midfielders should be worth more than forwards anyway.

And the Alonso transfer is quite apt.

I agree with the injury record. I, for one, would NEVER buy a player who is injured regularly. Even if they were cheap. Seriously disrupting for your team if you can't rely on them.

How would you or any other poster know how much Torres is worth? do you know how much commercial revenues Torres generates for his club? did you consider that Torres has the highest selling jersey in the EPL for the last few years?

The logic that if Torres is worth 50m then player X is worth much more is getting old and is filled with fallacy.

Fabregas is worth around 45m imo.

Oh look, another Chelsea fan who can't admit mistakes made by his club. You don't have to explain me how marketing value is utilized in modern football: I am a fan of the club who invented it, and I wasn't exactly a fan. Chelsea and Madrid aren't corporations, but football clubs. I don't want no crap-Beckham or -Torres in my team just because they sell kits. I want a great talent and see entertaining football.

But justify it for yourself, if that makes you feel better.

He is worth more to Arsenal than Barca

Its quite a unique situation where there is only one potential buyer. He only wants to move to Barca so teams like City or Chelsea cant put bids in to raise the price.

Same goes for Madrid or Inter.

So it only makes him worth what Barca are willing to pay.

If Barca offer 30 and say Real Madrid offer 50 you can't be worth 30 and 50 doesn't make sense.

I think every player is worth something regardless of what the team offers for the player imo.

To an extent, as in, if City or Eastern European clubs offer excessive amounts, the prices are inflated with the "unfavourable club" element. That doesn't make it reality that the player is actually worth that amount.

However, in this case, I doubt Fabregas or especially Arsenal will say no if, say, Madrid offers a crazy number. It isn't Barcelona or bust I feel.
