Song the liability? Arsenal will be celebrating him leaving after this season ffs The guy has been a liability for years for Arsenal, constantly letting them down with sub par defensive performances when he is their lone DM on the pitch.

Truth is Song is a very average player, and one overrated aswell.

Modric's toenail is more talented than Song. Modric is a better passer, better dribbler and a player. Only difference is Modric plays for a outdated 442 under Redknapp and Song plays for Wenger, a brilliant coach with actual football tactics.

Song is an traffic cone. Everyone with little dribbling ability can get past by him.
So Song is not an midfielder, but that even makes harder for him to secure a place in Barcelona.

That's not what every said when they were above us for 6-7 months...

Song. Stronger, actually plays vertical blls. Modric just passes, doesn't really dictate the play, gets bullied and gets dominated in every big game he's in.

Song will be facing alot of bench time, thats for sure.

its like the game it self is 1 vs 1 tottenham's midfield wasnt only modric and arsenal's wasnt only song either

put modric at barcelona and song will barely even touch the ball in a clash between them in the entire game,

Also stop basing Song's performances as a DM, he is'nt a DM ffs which is why his best performances came as a CM last year were he created so many chances for others.

He's not overrated, far from it actually if you actually base your opinion on him as a CM as that's what he is.

Totally agree. Also Modric looks(actually is) more talented than song but at the end of the day the guy has been better over the last years.
Nonetheless Modric is going to get more playing time than Song ... so

I don't get how this is a debate, the fact most top clubs in England were chasing for the signature of Modric and not Song should tell you the difference in quality between the two.

Modric is light years ahead of Song in every department of midfield play except tackling, he'd prove it again in la liga pretty soon, maybe starting as soon as 20 hours from now.

id say song is better, particularly in the epl, but i think once the season is over peoples mind will be changed as i see song primarily sitting the bench and i think modric will flourish in la liga- not just because its madrid but because modric's style is much more suited to la liga than the epl and i think it will show this season.

Arsenal fans a few years ago were saying he is a great DM now he is not even a DM..such is Song..crap player with a hollywood final ball now and then. He is going to play CB at barca for a reason (or the keita role )

I'm still waiting for anyone to give concrete reasons why one is better than the other. It seems people are basing their reasons on who is most hyped and who most clubs were after. Spurs missed on the CL so obviously Modric would be easier to buy than Song. Song defensive shortcomings are being aired a lot but Song played with Arteta as CM so he isn't exactly a lone DM like busquets. He played more like a CM.

His vision and creativity is also being grossly underrated here. If Gerrard or Lampard made those so called "Hollywood passes" (which in itself seems to demean these efforts from Song), we would be hearing lampard vs xavi or gerrard vs iniesta debates everytime.

Anyway, I can only Imagine if Song was white or lets just say English? I wonder if he would be rated highly then
