Re: Do you rate Ivanovic?
So, would that mean selling Arbeloa..because Arbeloa on the left for example and Ivan on the right would be horrific.
And there wouldnt a situation to use Arbeloa if you have Ivan.
And yes, getting dusted by Ryo isnt shameful at all. But the difference in acceleration in the 1 v 1 tells you something. He has to get physical like Mole said to stop people and thats less allowed in La Liga than maybe anywhere else.
I can imagine middle level flank players like Griezman, Perroti, Tello giving him enough problems.

Mourinho likes large squad even though he will only effectively use 15-16 players, remember? The Franchise wrote:So, would that mean selling Arbeloa..because Arbeloa on the left for example and Ivan on the right would be horrific.

I am not convinced it's a significant enough upgrade over arbeloa who himself picks up his fair share of cards in la liga already.
I can imagine that both will rotate a bit, Ramos is now a committed CB and Lass is packing his bags again, probably for the last time.

Re: Do you rate Ivanovic?
Sure, thats true. But it probably makes more sense to have one defensive fullback (Arbeloa) and an offensive one (Isla for example) than two of the same.
Then again, on the other side both Marcelo and Coentrao are attacking so the right might just always be defensive.

Re: Do you rate Ivanovic?
To be fair, how many fullbacks out there could effectively stop all those quick footed la liga wingers?

Re: Do you rate Ivanovic?
Not so many, but if your buying a defensive fullback your going to want them to defend very well.
Otherwise your probably better off getting someone more well rounded.

Re: Do you rate Ivanovic?
The best defensive RB around might be Sagna, Lham, Zanetti, and then you have guys like Richards, maybe Lichsteiner although he is a WB really, but then it's a wash, who else is there.
Imo Azpilicueta is the kind of balanced player we should go for, i saw him stopping Ribery in 1v1 multiple times, essentially stopping him in their duels.

Re: Do you rate Ivanovic?
Dont rate Debuchy Nick? to me he's one of the most complete fullbacks in europe, not the best but he does everything well.....
Defence, comfortable in possession and provides an attacking outlet.
And iam not just saying this because we want him lol, he really impresses me.

Re: Do you rate Ivanovic?
Yeah and of those, none are really available, 1 is over 35 and the other are fast reaching 30. All 3 also are better in attack than Ivan too.
Cant really say about Azpiliceuta, have not seen enough for OM.
Finding a fullback, full stop, is difficult.

Lichtsteiner isnt a wingback though or atleast he sucks at WB attacking wise.
But he has excellent positioning sense and can deal with technical players(He had Lamela for breakfast).I havent seen him against direct speedy wingers though.
I actually see a lot of similarity in Ivanovic and Lichtsteiner tbh.I'd say Ivanovic has about the same speed as Lichtsteiner.
As for stopping Ribery ?Lorenzo Di Silvestri stopped Ribery as well in 1 on 1 situation

Re: Do you rate Ivanovic?
Rate him pretty highly. He's strong, and while not the fastest he's not super slow. He's also pretty good technically and brings a good balance of attack + defense.
