Extensive workout in Vinovo
Juventus have seen in their working week with a double training session in Vinovo. After assembling on the training ground this morning, the Bianconeri conducted a series of fitness tests alongside the Mapei Research Centre. These assessments monitor the players’ muscular, aerobic and anaerobic qualities, along with their recovery ability.
Three different types of tests were taken: Mignoni, CMJ and HIT. The first detects the build up of lactic acid; the second calculates the Bianconeri’s muscle quality and strength, while the third and final assessment produces accurate figures of the players’ recovery ability.
The afternoon saw the squad focus on ball work for the first part of the session, in which the Bianconeri divided into two eleven-a-side teams. In the red bibs were Storari, Guano, Bonucci, Estigarribia, Elia, Marrone, Marchisio, Bouy, Giaccherini, Quagliarella and Matri. They were faced by a team in yellow featuring Manninger, Lichtsteiner, Caceres, Magnusson, De Ceglie, Krasic, Pirlo, Padoin, Del Piero, Borriello and Vucinic.
Proceedings got underway with a game of handball before the players were asked to make one-touch passes, followed by two touches, which eventually gave way to open play. The team in yellow emerged victorious thanks to a Del Piero double, with Bouy going closest for the red side when he saw his shot cannon back off the upright.
As the fans watched from the sidelines, the two teams then focused on ball possession. A group of players continued their work in the gym, while the remainder stayed on the training ground to undergo further passing exercises before a seven-a-side game brought the session to a close.
This gave the opportunity for the red side to exact their revenge, running out 5-1 winners through Quagliarella’s double and goals from Estigarribia, Marrone and Bouy. Padoin netted a consolation for the opposition.
