I would be surprised if even 1/4 of the people criticizing him here watched the match... What about all the other instances this EL where he was the driving force behind their wins?

His 1v1 misses in both legs(against Dnipro) were shocking.Its not like this is new for him.He has this bad knack of missing sitters in crucial games.Ofcourse he's going to come under the scanner if he does this often especially in big clashes.
I dont know why people call him a 'clinical striker' purely because of his conversion rate.Kinda seems like a misleading stat to me.
There is a genuine evidence to believe that the occasion gets to him.

Higuain has become a better and a more complete player in Napoli but the choking is still evident.

I'm not gonna act like I watched the game last night (or Napoli that much this season), but, I can't believe this happened again to him.

I love the dudes attitude but, I don't know. How bad was last night for him? To those who watched the game.

it's the pressure of having to qualify for the EL final to earn a CL spot that's looking impossible to get in the league .

The offside goal in the first game determined the tie. When you have to attack Dnipro, you lose, they will get at least one counter attack goal. And they defend in 11. When Dnipro need to score, you will get one counter attack goal at least. Napoli getting that one goal in Naples would have won the tie if it wasn't for the offside goal by Dnipro.

I really doubt he was under more pressure against Dnipro than possibly being eliminated early in the WC... the problem is Napoli as a whole are a terrible team when they are the favorites. It happens alllll the time in Serie A. As the underdogs, they can pull some great games, but as the favorites they are just too lax.

How are 2 and 3 sitters? In any case I'm not arguing he had a great WC, he didn't, but he offered more than Palacio did which was the alternative.

1 he judges the ball wrong, 2 is relatively easy chip, 3 there's is an angle and you can even put it between legs, 4 complete offside blunder, 5 too hasty. I don't know even if this is all, these are only coming from Messi except last, but it's 5 pressure mistakes against 1 non-pressure finish. You see the point?

I really don't think the problem is that he chokes in big matches. He just is inconsistent in front of goal. But let's face it, he propably will never be as good as 2008-2010 Higuain. Back then he was more reliable in front of goal and quicker (both on and off the ball)

I thought he played well in this one tbh. He got 2 goals that brought them back. Yeah he missed the PK. But he'd already missed several in the season. They should have changed PK takers by now.

Thing i've noticed about Higuain is that he gets waaaay too emotional. It works for him in terms of energy. But it works against him in moments where he needs his cool.
