id love him to sign a new contract at chelsea, but at his age you cant really blame him for accepting that sort of money

I don't understand why they want to spend €40 million on a player who may not be able to play regularly during his tenure!!!

Since the birth of J-League all rising leagues have resorted to sign OLD stars for considerable sums.

The prevalent argument is they 'raise' the profile of the league. REALLY!!! Unlike Eto or Drogba, younger players can play for their national teams and thus can actually promote those leagues & clubs. Besides, you can actually sell the younger players (to bigger/European clubs) and recoup your investment.

Another argument can be that they sell jerseys. Well how much money will the Russian or Chinese club earn from Eto or Drogba jerseys and at what cost.

He is probably leaving this january or definitely this summer.
