If Ramos goes to CB which looks a nailed on certainty then Iraola should be RB and Azpilicueta should go as part of the squad.

I have defended Enrique for many many months but ever since Ben Arfa destroyed him so hard that he was forced to play in goal to get away from him he has'nt been the same.

I expect Alba to be first choice LB.

Arbeloa could very well play LB.

I don't want Alaba...I want a defensive LB...

Enrique is mediocre.

Mediocre going forward and can get raped for pace.And sometimes his defending comes off as a bit lacksadaisical.

Alba is much better and much better for tiki taka as well.

It seems me typing Alaba ( Bayern defender) by accident instead of Alba ( Valencia defender) as i should have done has :vagi: you all.

I dont know what Liverpool did to Enrique but he was a rock defensively for us..... he was beaten 1 v 1.... 8 times in 2 seasons ffs.

Most of the teams would play counter attacking game against Spain and Enrique has shown he is susceptible to pace.Another aspect to deem Enrique as not good enough first choice LB for Spain.

Now i understand why VDB snubbed him all along.

anyway azpi and iraola are both certainly better than ramos at rb so meh... can't say i've watched liverpool much this season so can't judge enrique but if capdevila was the starter last world cup how hard can it be lol

Enrique is better on Set Pieces than Alba and with no Puyol....that automatically becomes the biggest danger area.

It will definitely be Ramos and Pique at centre-back, which has its advantages and disadvantages. Ramos is coming off a brilliant season at Real Madrid, where he has flourished as a centre-back. We all knew that his dominant position was centre-back. Pique, on the other hand, has experienced his worst season ever, in my opinion. He has looked shaky, rusty, and has suffered some bad injuries. With Pique, he possibility of not having an experienced head, in Puyol, might do him harm. The pressure might get to him. This is all hypothetical, of course. As for the full backs, well Arbeloa or Iraloa at right back, preferably the former, whose had a decent season, granted he was poor in the second half of it. At left back, there is no one better than Alba, at the moment, and if you think moving Arbeloa to left back will do Spain more favours then you are wrong. Alba has established the balance between defence and attack effectively this season, and has done well in the games he's played. I can't see past him, to be honest.

Puyol had a sub par year with Barca . He was getting raped by most of La liga strikers, he has the heart and commitment but the body is not allowing it anymore. He was destined to be on the bench for the Euros anyway.

This (Puyol) guy is an absolute beast, he gets the best out of Pique. In my opinion, it's a crucial blow to Span's Euro 2012 campaign because it means that they won't have a genuine leader. Ramos is coming off his best season ever for Real Madrid, playing as a centre-back, showing how he had been wasted before at right back, but he doesn't possess the same characteristics that Puyol does. Whenever you see Puyol play, he plays with passion, is willing to put his body on the line ("slight exaggeration), and is constantly looking at Pique's positioning. Pique, on the other hand, is the main worry for me personally because he's coming off his worst season for Barcelona. You wouldn't even think that he's been a rock in the last few seasons. There are a couple of factors, which have contributed to this, but my main worry is that, without a leader, he's going to struggle. Puyol was a destined starter, so please don't start...

Ramos is everything you just wrote lol....people don't see this for some reason....but he is the leader and organizer of our defense.

Pique had the worst year so far under Barca. So did Puyol,he has been really subpar this season.Worst season i have seen from him from god knows since when. Leadership and commitment will definitely missed but thats not enough to start in a Major tournament. He has shown that he is no longer capable of putting world class performances in a row.I really believed Del Bosque is going to play Pique-Ramos in Euros ,they played that CB pairing in many qualifiers and friendlies,co incidence?

Ballesteros deserves a spot more than Ramos imo, who will end up being a liability.

spain just aren't gonna win the euros either though.

Ramos and Pique have played one game together in the qualifiers...I think.
