98 was bad,but 82 was worse,our best NT ever ruined by a Rossi hattrick

How come could a WC or a CL final ever be an upset? You'd need the other team to be big underdogs for their win to be considered an upset and I don't think it's possible to have that big differences in quality in WC or CL finals.
Istanbul was a great comeback, but not an upset.
Also Porto drawing United at Old Trafford and progressing sure is a great achievement by the Portuguese club, but not something I'd call a huge upset.

Sure, finals are close matches by nature and there is rarely a huge gap in quality. But, being a final, there is always an upscale in the upset...

actually no... oddsmakers had france at #4 before wc. Talent was astounding on that team:

I dont think France winning it in 98 was an upset at all.
They might not have been favourites, but its not even close to the surprise that was Monaco, Porto and especially Greece and things like that.
