i dont think our problem was that we needed a leader. our problem was just that our depth wasnt as good. lets see how the new additions do.

Being a captain doesn't always mean you have good leadership skills. Several of the national team captain we have are only such because they're either the best player in the team or the most experienced. I don't consider Ramsey, Rosicky, Arshavin, Benayoun and Chamakh great leaders.

Yeah, those guys are more the "lead by example" rather than the "lead by pure force of balls" type, which are the real leaders.

Theo Walcott does not start for England this evening. Reason could be a hamstring injury.

Not sure if that is good news or bad news for Arsenal.

How could Walcott getting injured be good news for Arsenal? Unless you mean a knock, which then him getting rest is not bad at all.

Theo left out as a precaution as opposed to being actually injured.

Szczesny has been God so far. Honestly, aside from conceding that penalty, he has been absolute F*CKING BOSS.

Ramsey completely bossing England, and would have had plenty of assists if not for such shitty strikers.

England won 1-0, but it was a poor game. Ramsey got Man of the Match; difficult first half but excelled in the second half when he was relieved of defensive duties. Passing was excellent throughout.

Ramsey played very well. He is getting back to his old form where left off before the injury.

Poland/Germany game wasn't on TV over here. Not that it matters since I would have watched England regardless.

Elsewhere, Ju-Young Park scored again for South Korea. He has four goals in two games now.

Van Persie played well for the Netherlands in a 2-0 win. Was subbed off after 70 or so minutes. No injuries, by the looks of things.

Sagna played for France in a 0-0 draw with Romania.

Nicklas Bendtner scored twice for Denmark.

Andrey Arshavin had a good game against Ireland.

Szczesny and Mertesacker both played.

Metersacker was meh, but that had a lot to do with his partner really. Got it together towards the end, but wasn't impressive.

Szczesny was fabulous. Save after save after save after save. He stopped some impossible shots. His reflexes and agility have gone up a lot over the summer, in Fifa terms at least. Didn't make a single mistake today. Conceded from a penalty and a play where his defense just went AWOL. Class class keeper this guy.
