'I trust my chances' - Real Madrid's Jose Callejon

Real Madrid winger Jose Callejon is hopeful he can make a name for himself at the club.

Callejon re-signed for Madrid earlier this summer in a €5.5 million deal, three years after leaving the club for Espanyol.

In the last few years, the Spanish capital club have seen several youngsters depart in the search for success, but Callejon hopes he will not join that list.

"I do not want what happened to Pedro Leon and Sergio Canales to happen to me, though I am aware that on this team only the best play and that it will be hard to play, but I trust my chances," Callejon said at a press conference.

The 23-year-old, who came on as a substitute in the 6-0 victory over Zaragoza in Madrid's La Liga opener, confessed he is enjoying every second at the club.

"The atmosphere, the fans, the quality of the players I train with every day and the coach, a great person with a lot of joy both on and off the pitch, everything is great," Callejon added.

The Spaniard dismissed suggestions of a feud between Ricardo Carvalho and Pepe, despite the former walking out of Portugal's training camp after learning his compatriot had moved ahead of him in the coach's pecking order for a Euro 2012 qualifier.

"There is no controversy, there are good vibes between them," Callejon noted. "If Carvalho acted that way, he must have had his reasons.

"Ever since I arrived, he has shown me he is a great professional from head to toe."

This guy played CR7's role perfectly. We didn't miss him one bit. Granted, it was 'only' Dinamo Zagreb but his execution and overall playing style stuis us a LOT more than Pedro Leon from last year eco smile

P.S. That guy can score or link up from everywhere eco smile

I was always a big supporter of callejon when others doubted him, he is a castilla and a great player. He is a significant asset to our team.

Praise for the performance, he took the opportunity with both hands. He trusts his chances and with good reason.

Not a bad few days for the kid. His piggy back with Mourinho then a nice CL showing at home.

i believe callejon has what it takes to make it in the team, i say we give him a real chance and make no transfer for the attack, its not needed at all, that means keeping kaka too

Anyway, Jose Motherf*cking Callejon is BEAST!

If I were Di Maria, I would be very very worried. In fact, if I were Mou, I would not hesitate at all to put Callejon in place of Di Maria in big matches. Jose efficiency on the ball is amazing. Plus, his goals are sex. This kid needs to play way more IMO. Proof that our Castilla works really well, proof that we can integrate our youth products into our first team and proof that we can nurture Spanish talents.

Buying Callejon was a surprisingly sensational move by Real Madrid. Nobody really expected it, and frankly, makes Kaka's 56 mill euro transfer look even more stupid.
