SSC 1st leg "Possession"
Stat of the day: Barcelona’s iron grip on ball possession
Statistics master Alexis [aka @MisterChip], spent some serious time looking at the way Real Madrid and Barcelona worked to keep the ball in Sunday’s first-leg SuperCopa encounter. By the end of the match, Barcelona emerged with 51.79% compared with 48.21 for the Merengues. To break this down even further: during the full 94 minutes and 32 seconds of time in the match, there were 50 minutes and 53 seconds of open play in which possession of the ball could be contested. Out of this time period, Barcelona held the ball 1 minute and 49 seconds longer than Madrid, and eeked out the majority of the possession for the match.
To look at the bigger picture, this match represented the 184th consecutive official encounter in which the Blaugrana emerged with superior ball possession. That’s a lot of matches!

----------------------------------------------
Note: There is 2 ways usually to calculate Possession, Time in which a team has the ball or Number of Passes!
The above stats is according to the time in which Barca & Real had the ball:
==> Possession: Barcelona 52% - 48% Real Madrid!
--------------------------------------------
I couldn't find the Passing stats for this match..
but according to espn, Possession: Real Madrid 40% - 60% Barcelona!

Honestly that was the amount I saw in my TV. I don't get where the sources now say that Barca had more.
In fact, even LiveGoals.com says Real Madrid had 53%. IMO it's a reliable source and I use it all the time to get statistics from games

Re: SSC 1st leg "Possession"
I find it a bit harder to believe they had more possession considering we had about 60% at half time then Xavi Pique and Pedro came on the second half

Re: SSC 1st leg "Possession"
Great to see Barcelona fans happy to see their team rack up possesion, well I do hope Xavi, Pique, Puyol and Busquets play today, their excuses have gone from lol worthy to simply pathetic. Learn to give credit where it is due.
Mourinho is slowing building his empire in the last great league left to conquer (apologies to the Bundes Liga), watch your back Barcelona, a new BOSS is coming to town, hate it or love it the underdogs on TOP.

Re: SSC 1st leg "Possession"
Funny given how some of your brethren are using a site I've never heard before as more trustworthy than OptaSports, which are the best organization for football stats by leaps and bounds, to justify that Madrid had more possession. But I guess we're the ones not giving credit...buddytaller wrote:Learn to give credit where it is due.

Messi,Alves,Sanchez,Masch trained for just 5 days & didn't play a single friendly..
We played without Xavi,Puyol,Busq & Pique ..
These are silly excuses? I would like to see u playing without Alonso,Khedira,Carvalho & Pepe.. than see what u can do? @ least we came out with 2-2 Draw Away from home, with unfit & missing players!
anyway, lets wait for tomorrow's match..
U still have a chance & its your last for this seaosn, if u want to win a trophy! Cuz u won't have any chance in the League, CL or even the Copa with a fit Barca starting from Semptember/October, until 1st Classico in December !!

Do you know how to read? I said "AT HALF TIME" I can provide source too.The xcx wrote:You owned yourself right there On the othernote Im downloading the right now, so I can update you guys with the actual possession, not that it matters or anything.Lionel Messi wrote:I find it a bit harder to believe they had more possession considering we had about 60% at half time then Xavi Pique and Pedro came on the second half
Also why "update us" if it doesn't matter or if you guys apparently don't care? Seems like you obviously do.

Re: SSC 1st leg "Possession"
The players who played on Sunday, represented FCB and that's that, teams go through transitions, this season could potentially be the season where Alexis will take over from Pedro and Xavi and Puyol could struggle with injuries all season.
It's only sound to assume Barcelona has a plan B which was evident in the last game. Madrid started preseaon just a week ahead of Barcelona, and travelled far more extensively and should be complaining of fatigue but they are not. The only "starters" for Barcelona who went to the Copa Del Rey was Messi and Alves, Madrid had Di Maria and Higuain out of action too.
Madrid have also had issues with injury, with Nuri Sahin and Altintop currently injured, Granero and Ramos missed some preseason due to injury, but that cannot be an excuse for an awful performance by the team. Keep underrating the work Mourinho is doing, if it makes you feel good, but I'm sure deep inside you can't help but wonder, if FCB reign at the top has finally come to an end.
Well there is still a full season ahead, and while I think Barcelona is still the best team at the moment and favourites to win every match they play in, I also have the feeling, Mourinho's second season at Madrid, will turn out to be quite special.

Re: SSC 1st leg "Possession"
Let the funny quotes be. Of course, you need a little bit intelligence to see past the normal ' but we had more possession' argumentsjiopsi wrote:How am I butthurt when I point the obvious, that the quote didn't talk anything about domination, rather than possession.babun1024 wrote:The definition of butthurt
You are defining like a four year old.
Are you now butthurt?
The fact that a Farca supporter makes a thread about possession stats in Farca section when they were utterly dominated for 90 minutes is funny by itself
You could even have 60% possession whatsever, what's the point? It's like applying makeup on the face of an ugly chick, she'd still be ugly afterwards
If you want to argue with me, leave this thread, the thread is reserved for quotes only I'll go to the source of the fun in Farca section ( You know the thread)
