To be fair, Hala said before the game that Pepe was going to silence Griezmann...and he was right.

I have many problems against Pepe, but he had a terrific run, easily the best defender in the tournament.

What I admire about him is that he doesn't complain when he gets benched, he genuinely loves his club and country and gives everything when he plays for them.

Varane should learn a thing or two from him, especially modesty, perseverance and professionalism.

I hope now he knows why he was benched by Carlo and Z for Pepe.

Such a monster when he's in this kind of form, brilliant throughout the entire tournament and was easily the best defender at the Euro's.

actually i could not remember if he was being benched or not, he said something about Benitez being more straight forward with him as opposed to zidane.

Being bitter is understandable when one feels you still very much have what it takes to keep going. Not the best route Pepe should have taken but it is what it is. Not like he is leaving a pauper or no winner's medal. 3 UCL, 3 La Liga, 2 CDR, I think 2 World club Cups. Yup, a fine career at Real Madrid.

@vandeez i don't think anybody can be more dangerous than ramos. yeah pepe had some moments of madness against lyon (that the ref didn't catch) and getafe, but ramos' madness is a constant. as a matter of fact i get, i'm so used to ramos doing boneheaded things, i get extremely nervous when he's calm

Pepe top player and good leader at times, had some harsh moments never got a lot of credit he deserved, will always be the better cb of his partnership with Ramos or varane, a send off game would have been nice, he clearly loves the club so this little outburst is fine he expected more in the end.

Pepe was awful in his the first half of his Madrid career... but was absolute class in the last half. Legend? If it weren't Real Madrid, I'd say yes. But it's hard to be a legend here... although CB is probably easier than other positions lol.

To be a legend at this club, even at CB is really tough. He gets the "Icon" status for me. Like Benzema, did more good than bad and another guy I would totally pick over Guti really.
