Coentrao wasn't that bad imo, he can cover a lot of positions.

So how did everyone go? General performance, who played well, or badly, etc. I only saw the opening 25 mins.

Re: Real Madrid vs Leicester City
Varane dominated again
Pepe played well
Arbeloa was his usual solid self
Marcelo was ok.. but it don't like that he makes his runs to the middle of the field as opposed to going wide
Xabi was his usual self
Granero meh
Khedira bossed
Kaka was meh-
Callejon is a pleasant surprise. very good.
Benzema was the best player of the game. actually played am in 1st half because granero and kaka were ineffective.
Ozil was in there but didn't do a whole lot
CR7 played as usual
Coentrao runs all over the place. not sure what position he really plays. his work rate will always make him effective to some extent.
Higuain was good i thought. just rusty as his finishing was bad.

Not saying he's a flop... he just has no position to start in right now. He's not going to displace Marcelo, Khedira, Xabi or Di Maria unless they drop in form drastically. Only way i see him playing a lot is if we go to a heavy rotation or a 4-3-3... and he'll have to fight it out with Sahin too.
It's not going to be easy for him since he's not playing RB.

Re: Real Madrid vs Leicester City
I'm sure he has a plan TMO. But every position has at least 2 people competing for it. And nobody was bought for very cheap, unless they were brought through our youth system. So getting signed for a lot doesn't mean you get heavy minutes in Madrid... we have WC players backing up WC players.
My feeling is that Mou wanted a versatile insurance player that could play at a WC level. He will give him a chance to win a spot. But even if he doesn't, he has someone that can cover multiple positions for the next two years.

Young players who fail to crack the starting lineup usually leave after 2 years. First year is the honeymoon... Second year is all business. It depends too if the player gets no love in the first year... In that case, it's one and done. It's obviously different for older players because it's all about the money then and you will never make more than at Madrid. As long as the club wants them, the older guys will usually stick around. I think Raul was an exception.
Just a personal theory.

Re: Real Madrid vs Leicester City
Huh. So I guess, till now, the general 'good stories' of pre season have been Benz, Khedira, Callejon and Varane.
Coentrao and Kaka have been the most disappointing IMO.

Ceontrao has been fine actually. I like him a lot. But i'm not sure he's better than Xabi, Sahin and Khedira... and i'm basing this on what i saw of Sahin last year. He may actually be better than him. Highly doubt it though.

Re: Real Madrid vs Leicester City
I don't think it's fair to hate on Kaká since Özil have been just as bad atleast the last two games. Yet no voices about Özils lack of form, while for example Nick take a chance in every thread to hate on Kaká.
Don't get me wrong, i don't prefer Kaká over Özil, I want to see both play with Özil going right. I'm no big fan of Di Maria. He's very talented. But he's not a good team player, except when it comes to his work rate.

its a fact known about that with nick.
i myself dont prefer kaka over ozil , some people just do expect too much from a player to another.
some tend to see what they want to see and dont want to see. im like that in a way
not all madrid fans are also a madrid supporter!

Re: Real Madrid vs Leicester City
A few reasons why Ozil gets more of a pass than Kaka:
- Ozil has contributed a solid season... Kaka hasn't
- Ozil cost <<<<< Kaka cost
- Ozil is the incumbent. The job is his. Kaka needs to prove he belongs... so he needs to play harder in preseason
That's why i'm tough on benz too. After the Philly game, i was truly upset. Why? He's out there to prove he's a starter. The preseason means something to him. It should be the same for Kaka.
Not really worried too much about how CR7, Ramos, Xabi, pepe, etc. play in the preseason because they don't have much to prove at this stage.

Re: Real Madrid vs Leicester City
Fault is not the issue. Expectations for a player making 10 million is always going to be very high, and rightly so. The only reason he's still in Madrid is because he would not take a pay cut to play somewhere else.
If you're going to earn the money, then you should be prepared to take the scrutiny. That's just the way it goes.
No different than in any other profession.

Re: Real Madrid vs Leicester City
Watching the downloaded games, I absolutely disagree on Ozil's doing as bad as Kaka in the last 2 games. Those might be not his best games, but definitely better than Kaka. Just because he didn't score/ assist in the last 2 games doesn't mean he's doing as bad as Kaka. He still created, made good passes here and there, and generally made the right decisions when he's on the ball. Can't really say the same on Kaka who seemed made couple of bad decisions when he's on the ball.
Reading the post match comments here since match againts LA Galaxy, I do think some were a bit overreacted toward Kaka's performances, both the good and the bad one.
His peformance againts LA Galaxy for example, while it was good, I don't think it was that great that deserved all praises and hypes he got from that game such as: "Kaka 2007 is back", "Kaka should start over Ozil/ Di Maria", etc. I didn't read other players got such kind of praise even though doing better than Kaka.
On the other hand, the rest of his performnaces, while it was quite bad, I don't think they were that shit that deserved all the hates he got, except probably the Philadelphia one where he was trully horrible. When other doing worse than Kaka, I also didn't read the same level of hate.
It's actually quite funny

Re: Real Madrid vs Leicester City
kaka is doing worst because hes been shit for 3 years and ozil hasnt been SHIT ever, its as simple as that, if kaka still plays like a retard, i hope we burn and hang his memory in real madrid, and move on to the next big thing/brazilian/neymar.
