Re: meaningless la liga
i could agree to this to a certain extent, even though i think 2 man midfield is a way to go.halamadrid2 wrote:I think the criticism against Kroos have been exaggerated this season. He has been poor for a large stretch but at least he isn't a turnover machine. I think Kroos and Casemiro can be used to create a super midfield next season , provided we go and select the third midfielder really carefully next season. Modric I am afraid is done

yup i think we should have 3 CFs on roster next season to field 2 strikers when we need, in a 442 or 4411.halamadrid2 wrote:Benz ffs. So good this season. Hopefully we pair him with a striker next season

Vallejo is braver on the ball than Varane has been his whole career. Vallejo i think would play really in LaLiga. CL is too big for him imo

Re: meaningless la liga
My target stats for both Bale and Benzema was 20+ league goals and 30+ goals all comps. One of them hit the target.
The next step for Benz is to score a few goals in the big games. He was known for that (he was a Barca killer for a couple of years there)... but the past 3 years, he hasn't done that enough.
Of all our attacking players, he has the least to improve upon going into next season. Good for him.

The teddy bear with a heart beat actually played well today? Nice. Still nowhere as good as Varane but I do like a feel good victory when it comes.

Vallejo was excellent today though Doc, he completely shut out Iñaki. Providing he can stay fit, i think he still has time to become a great CB

,!!, that’s the first decent thing you have said about him. That performance won’t save him, but it might make it a loan instead of an outright sale.

Benzema has more goals than Ronaldo this season as a FYI... both in league and all comps. A friend of mine just let me know. This would be crazy lol.

Re: meaningless la liga
He also has more goals than anyone in the PL and as much as Lewa. If the rest of the team wasn't so shit, Benz would be lauded as one of the if not the best striker this season
We need more goals from the midfielders and especially the rest of the attack

I mean, did say "nice" implying I'm glad he had a good game. Still not better than Varane though. I mean, that is fairly obvious to all and sundry I hope.

Re: meaningless la liga
To be fair to CR, he’s older, and he continued his tendency to lack clinicality during the first few months of the season. And that doesn’t even factor in that he’s playing in a completely different team and league, and already managed to get himself suspended once this season. CR’s big game impact has still been as good as you’d expect. He barely got involved against Ajax, but the rest of the team clearly weren’t up to the task.

CR went to Juve to make the money Perez did not want to pay him and to win the CL to prove us wrong. He flopped.

Re: meaningless la liga
That's all well and good. I don't particularly care what happens to him, now that he's not a Real Madrid player. I do think the numbers don't do him justice, though. As much as he's known to be a stat-padder, I much preferred his quality goals over the quantity of them. What makes him such a decisive player, is that he scores decisive goals. I'm sure a lot of people expected him to roll back the years and beat Ajax solo, but the rest of the team looked comparable to the Man United side that got steamrolled by Everton. No single individual can dig their way out of such a predicament.

Vallejo made lots of mistakes in the game. Which is expected, he hasnt played in a while.
Inaki had chances, a slightly better player would have torn Vallejo apart.
@doc Varane's quality and importance to the club atm can never be questioned.

What will hurt more is us finishing trophyless while he's already crowned champion of Italy. I think it's pretty clear that between him and us, we're the ones on the losing end of the deal; at least trophy-wise.

Juve winning Serie A is like PSG winning Ligue 1.... it's not a competition. CR is as trophy-less as we are this season.

A trophy's a trophy, to be fair. I know I would rather have CR's "trophyless" season than our trophyless season, and I would rather have his "pointless goals" than our... pointless goals

Re: meaningless la liga
While you're at it, you can write off La Liga as a major trophy as well since Barcelona has been winning it for fun with no rival in sight to challenge them.
But things don't work that way, do they? You don't get to write off a major trophy just because you don't like the person or the side winning it.
He's ending the season with a major trophy and we're finishing it trophy-less. That's the fact of the matter. So yes, we're definitely on the losing side of the deal.

Re: meaningless la liga
Lol, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 are all farmer leagues Demon. I understand your frustration but Ronaldo can't even wipe his ass with the Serie A trophy, what he cares is about Balon D Or and he def aint winning the next one. He's dead to me, move on. La Liga at least has the two biggest clubs in the world hypothetically battling it out every season, it's different.

Re: meaningless la liga
How is it different? Madrid lost the league in January this year and October the year before last. You can't possibly say with a straight face that we made Barcelona suffer the last couple years to win the league.
It has been as easy for Barcelona to win the league as it has been for Juve.
I'm not saying that Ronaldo should be credited for the win because I think Juve would've won it regardless. But to go as far as to claim that Juve is as trophyless as Madrid this season is simply factually incorrect and you would have to have a high level of saltiness to say that.
What we should do is acknowledge that fact that we royally fucked up with our transfer policy and hope that the board has learned their lesson and will go back to operating like an elite club again. Shitting on a former legend of this club, a player who gave his best years for us and was a major contributor to our success, is very low and won't do us any good.
