Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
The unfit players really let us down. Bad decision, but an understandable one.
Atleti look scary ready to take on the season. They outran us and outplayed us.
We need to take a page out of their book and 1) get fit yesterday, and 2) gel asap. They had almost all of their new players featuring (that I can think of) yet all of the new guys looked like they had played there for years.

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
If Lope wants to win anything he needs to fix the defence. Those 2 last goals do not happen if we have Casemiro or even Llorente on. Also we need a leader when we need to score. We were cruising to the victory and then bam Marcelo happens. Oh well, dissapointed today, hopefully we learn from our mistakes. Atleti were stronger, fitter and more hungry than our players. I would start Ceballos in place of Asensio/Isco he looks more hungry than them. And for the love of God get a betterCF than Mayoral and Benzema

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
In ET we got out played but in normal time, I thought we really did well. It is up until the 70th minute where everything just fell apart due to certain players running out of steam. You know, the shit Sports wrote about players not coming back unfit lol.
Don't mind the loss, at least it showed we really need a proper forward to help with goals.

isco had a shocker offensively. he was better defensively then offensively
now i'm a bit confused at the benz critics. he's 2 in 2 right now. he isn't the problem, the defense, particularly marcelo are having major issues right now. ramos had the best game out of them funny enough

and where are the ceballos lovers, who said kovacic was a nothing player with only pace and power. ceballos is clearly a level under kova and this game showed it

I'm gonna watch match again, but it def seems like J Lo did not make the right changes. Ceballos didn't need to come in, prob should have been Llorente, and seeing Lucas and Mayoral as our subs is worrying.

Ceballos barely played, and has been great all of preseason. I’m not going to judge him on 30 minutes alone, when overall he’s been pretty good. I just don’t like his malicious attitude. We saw a similar attitude when Morata started getting games with us. It’s like he feels he needs to throw people on the ground to show he’s trying hard or playing well. The true stinkers of the match were Carvajal, Varane, Marcelo, Isco, and I’m not going to lump him in, but Keylor should have at least stopped the first goal.

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
I don't think some of our top players took this game seriously... I mean, you play the WC final and you're not going to risk injury in a supercup.
A lot of guys played hard but weren't interested in getting too physical or weren't concentrating 100% to me.
I mean Griezmann, Lemar and Rodri were taken out by Atleti, which would never happen in a real game.
Don't make too much out of it. We played hard enough. Just ran out of gas late in the game.

This is RM without half of their players fit, yes. Ronaldo wouldn't have changed anything IMO. We weren't creating any chances, and we made several silly mistakes in defence.

When was Ceballos malicious?
He graced someone on the foot which the Atlético player milked for all it’s worth. He was pretty good today.
If anyone was bad in the midfield it was Modric, who’s clearly not in game shape yet. Casemiro was great defensively. Don’t see how we can play without him any minutes in these games.
Vazquez is a lost cause and should never play again.

There were 2-3 times he was hitting players after the ball went by. It's fine, it's just a mark of an immature player for me, and there was not real need for it.

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
Very strange to see the frontline not being at fault for this result for they actually did the best they could. The midfield and the defense disappointed me greatly.
and don't get me started at the positioning in one of the goals where an atletico player was given so much free space... watching that made me physically ill. freaking ball watchers.
being punked by atletico leaves a very bad taste in my mouth...
I expect the midfield and the defense to not wet their knickers the next time we face atletico. good god.
Is Isco having a stinker him being exposed or simply not his day? time will tell.
at the very minimum, I appreciate Benz and Bale's efforts. at least they actually tried to win this match.
I won't lump this on Lopetegui, still too early for that.

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
Meh players are unfit plus a new coach, could of won still but too many mistakes at the back, not jlo fault tbh nothing to shit bricks over, another cf is a must, cm and cb as well please but if the club does nothing I'm fine with it either way.
honestly how long is this isco thing gonna continue? Never really understood what so great about him, he is slow, slow on the ball, average vision and average passer, he will never be iniesta and his tricks are shit without any end product, can't believe the team let an assist and goal machine like James walk out the door, because he ain't a sweet dribbler thanks zidane smfh.

They were fine (I mentioned the guys who played the semis and final/3rd place games; so Varane and Modric in particular)... until OT for Varane. I never got the sense he went full intensity in this game, which I understand to some extent. No problem for Modric obviously since he didn't start. Courtois didn't play.
Reading comprehension people. It's a skill.
sportsczy wrote:You don't lose fitness after 4-5 weeks. That's how long it's been since the WC for Modric and Varane + they were in top fitness at that time too. They're fine. Casemiro and Marcelo were out longer... so maybe there.
The only question for me is whether Lopo will go extreme attacking and play Kroos low so that he can accomodate both Asensio and Isco. Casemiro actually looked off.
nacho could play for Marcelo.
These things should be regular time and then straight to PKs.

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
we really had that game controlled until Marcelo made one of the worst play i have ever seen keeping the ball in bounds for Atletico and Juanfran took advantage.
OT just killed us because we were gased compared to Atletico and Varane also made a mistake. that was game over.

Marcelo really didn't think about what he was doing. dude let the ball go out. keeping it in the game for Atletico .
The result doesn't reflect the game at all. we were better. mistakes + Casemiro going out killed us.

No i have seen marcelo doing that sort of play before, he is obsessed sometimes with keeping the ball on and ends up making mistake or turning the ball over.

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
No living coach can change make Marcelo not be a pleb and he can be one at the worst possible moment too. The fan base is overreacting as per usual but I saw us actually control the match for long stretches and did pretty well (up until the ridiculous error).
A win on Sunday would ease everyone's mind till the next match.

Re: Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid
I put 90% of the blame on Lopetegui for not trusting the guys he had plyed with week in week out all summer. All those seasons ago when we played Sevilla after the Euros we played with very few big name players because Zidane trusted the bench players. We won't win anything if Lope continues in this vein. that Sevilla Super Cup game was Asensios first competitive game yet he still started. There is no reason Ceballos, Reguillon, Nacho and some of the other guys couldn't have played. Hope he learns from his mistakes

Exactly what I said before the game, he needs to be courageous otherwise he won't succeed. He needs the young players to succeed so he needs to trust them otherwise he will fail.
