Greatest team in modern era
No question
4 out of 5 CLs and 3 in a row when nobody else has even gotten 2 in a row.

Re: Greatest team in modern era
It's unbelievable really. I've grown up playing in the round of 16. And now I forgot how it is not to play the CL final at the end of the season.
Merci zizou.

Re: Greatest team in modern era
Give zidane his props and let's stop fantasizing about too school for cool coaches (I did that on purpose). No matter how much these "tactical genius" type coaches spend. They will never win three in a row. I don't care how many passes their teams string together. Hala Madrid

Re: Greatest team in modern era
If he hadn't won tonight, I would've called for his head because he really screwed up big time this season. BUT he turned things around with a CL win.
Three CLs in a row for a rookie coach is beyond impressive and this team will go down in history as one of the greatest teams of all-time.

Re: Greatest team in modern era
We can also put the season down on the players. ZZ has defended them all season yet it was only recently that Benz started pressing properly and Bale having a run of great performances, where was this when Ronaldo was flopping earlier in the season?
I'll forget the mids and co because they always have top quality performances
Hopefully we strengthen the attack and go for thr treble next season

Re: Greatest team in modern era
If ZZ doesn't defend everyone... they can't have moments like Benz and Bale did in the final. That's the beauty of his managerial style. He has no ego (unlike Pep and Mou).... it's all about winning for him.

Re: Greatest team in modern era
No, he defends them because he doesn't throw his players under the bus and prefers to take the blame himself. That's one of the things I like about him. That and (especially) the fact that he doesn't jump up and down on the touchlines like a kid when he wins. He's a classy, silent killer.
But my days, if he hadn't won, I would've ripped him to shreds.
I'm immensely grateful to him and the players for giving me the chance of witnessing a miracle in my lifetime. A record that shall never be broken, worthy only of the King of Kings, Real *bleep* Madrid!

I still can't believe it. 3 CLs in a row? In this day and age? Are you freaking kidding me?!

and 4 out 5... not to mention 8 semis in a row... I don't think people understand the magnitude of our current run.

Ya, 3 out of 3 is awesome, but what's even more awesome is 4 in 5, only the Madrid of Di Stefano reigned this supreme.

It's godlike. There's no other way to describe it:
1) 4 CLs in 5 years.
2) 3 CLs in a row.
3) 8 semi-finals in a row.
4) 4 finals in fives years.
All four records only done by Real Madrid. Honestly, I don't even understand how could anybody belittle such an earth-shattering achievement.
Without a shadow of doubt, this Madrid team is one of the greatest of all-time. No doubt.

I forgot another record: First team to win the CL in the modern era with two overhead kicks in the knockout rounds from two different players

Re: Greatest team in modern era
loool.
Here's the big question: We can't win La Liga with this team. It's clear as day. They players are getting older with nothing to prove.
CL is the goal so I don't expect many changes. So i do believe that we will struggle in league again (although not as badly assuming we get a striker or two).
We're more concerned about CL over La Liga is my point. Always have been. I agree with the policy too.

Most unimpressive great team too
We're so goddamn inconsistent you can see how the boys are not confident. They didn't even show up til Mo Salah was subbed off and that's because our confidence went through the roof

Re: Greatest team in modern era
That's all Liverpool games guest7... they go like bonkers for 30-35 mins... then slow down some until the half. Come back pretty well for first 10 mins of second half then they're gased to end the game.
They rely on getting ahead with their early crazy press so they can counter when they get tired. If they don't score in those early moments, it's a struggle for them.

Is it the ZZ or Casemiro luck both of them have won all the CLs they've been involved in

Re: Greatest team in modern era
ZZ has won with every team he's been involved with... as a player or manager.... at every level. Even at my club AS Cannes.... we played in a European cup because of him. Never happened before (I think) or even close.
The guy is a winner, period.

Re: Greatest team in modern era
That's not a professional team DoC. It's a youth team. It's less about winning and more about developing kids.... he played guys that were more about potential over some older players that were better.
Remember Odegaard? That whole fiasco killed that Castilla team. We were flying until that transaction.

Re: Greatest team in modern era
I would like to add that this team and this victory has put 8 European Cups between us and Barca again, the same difference as when we won La Novena in 2002. Barca's best generation has been cancelled out by the best club of the 21st century.

Re: Greatest team in modern era
Talent-wise, we have the most balanced team we've had since Florentino was re-elected as president. We finally have no Albiols, Graneros.. no decent to semi-good players that aren't already tried and tested. It makes sense that we would improve, especially considering the timely decline of Barca. I think we've reached the end of an era, though. We have a few, aging players who've been absolutely key to our recent success, and I don't believe even the biggest ZZ fans would fancy his chances of creating similar results with an inferior, or less balanced team. Even if we don't win anything next season, I hope our transition over to the next generation of players will be a smooth one. I'm already excited, and a little bit anxious about our upcoming transfers.
