Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
This is the exact opposite of what Perez would want. He was essentially elected on the back of being able to sign Ronaldo.
Also I don't want Aubameyang anywhere near our team. Capable player but I've heard he's a partier and not a good personality to work with. I doubt ZZ would want that type of player.

Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
I say you guys are missing the obvious!
This is a much used strategy to get a new contract. How many times have we seen Messi or Ronaldo follow the other for a contact amplication? Didn't Messi just get a new contract after reports he was going to leave Barca. We've seen this act several times from both of them in the past 7 years. We've also seen it from other players aka Ramos last year. As to the club won't sign beyond their expected timeframe! Remember Raul, Casillas, etc.
Ronaldo is upset with tax authorities, but both his lawyers and club have firmly stated he has declared all his income. This tax pursuit is largely needed in this country especially in this country and rich people avoiding paying. It's been a very diligent effort in many countries ever since the Panama papers, but there are several legitimate reasons for off shore accounts that do not involve tax fraud. Whether or not Ronaldo is legit or not, this cry for attention does nothing to stop the tax investigation.

Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
We aren't a club that give out contracts like candies. Our contracts are usually an excruciating affair. Ronaldo managed to sign his in October and there are at least 5/6 players that needs to have their contracts extended/improved before we even entertain the idea of giving him another one. Imagine the precedent that creates, Ramos would hop on that coat tail before it leaves. And we all know how his contract negotiations happen with Ramos.

Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
I don't think it's a bad thing to consider if this is true though Bill. None of us really know what the truth is. All we can do is speculate.
I have to disagree with the likes of Aubameyang and Dembele being replacements. Im sorry but none of them especially Dembele are suitable replacements in my eyes, maybe for Bale down the road but that's all.
I think the best approach would be Mbappe and Neymar. I know a lot of people think we might be crazy to think Neymar would join Real, but the circumstances surrounding both parties, such as:
1. Neymar playing #2 behind Messi in both the pitch and by management
2. Not liked by the majority of barca fans due to his performances and his attitude I guess
3. (If) he has the desire to become #1 or win ballon dors and 4. Madrid needing a number one guy if Ronaldo leaves.
Obviously the best case scenario is that he doesn't leave. I have always been one of his critics ( still am, more of a guy who appreciates the unsung heroes more) but his transition to CF late in the season was like a renaissance for him at a late footballing age. He has become a true monster in that position

Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
u seriously think barca will sell us Neymar, its beyond reasonable.
We need to buy another cf to compete with benz, there is no guarantee that benz will suddenly become 30+ goals striker. Auba is the best among a lot with a proven record.
Dembele has barca dna, since when. was he born, fed in their b team. no he is French and Zidane is a French legend, do the math.
I am hearing we might not sell morata, we need to sell that chap asap, anything above 60m.

Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
This butthurt narcissistic primadonna antimadridista clown has given us a golden opportunity to kick him out but since he's our figurehead and yadayadayada he will be pardoned and get what he wants, which is apparently for Madrid to be vocal about his innocence and also help him financially in his criminal escapades. No way he's dumb enough to drown what little is left of his career by leaving Madrid (only a vehicle for his own personal gains of course), the downsides for him are so embarrassingly evident that i won't even bother listing the reasons. He needs us more than we need him, end of. Which is something you can't say about Messi and Barca right?
Hope he surprises me though.
Mbappe would come and Dembele apparently sleeps under Farca bed sheets so you can likely count that out.
Also, lets see... Recently he's come out saying that the spanish media makes him look like the devil, that the fan base whistles at him and gives him no respect, and apparently he's also pissed off at the club for not bending over the way Barca does with Messi. This will never change and should only get worse for him, he has exasperated his situation. Also, the other day i was re-watching his first goal against Juve and i swear that when he celebrates, if you read his lips he says "yo hablo aqui" which means i speak here, and also "f$ck off." This guy clearly has a chip on his shoulder and he shows the same nostalgic longing that the other Portuguese snake used to show for Chelsea. Hopefully this is the perfect storm and serresiete can leave for good.

About the whole club fandom when it comes to players, both Isco and Modric have both professed to be Barcelona fans so while Dembele is a Barcelona fan and is patiently waiting for them, Madrid can agree to terms with Dortmund and Dembele and sign him. Easily.

Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
yes but isco and modric didnt rule us out. they gave us a chance as soon as they heard we're interested in them.
Dembele is another story entirely.
@TMO isnt that a little much man? Say what you will but CR7 is OUR Kommander for a reason.
to answer bill's question, I believe someone else answered it. Most likely CR7 wants a payrise but since the title of the thread asks on a "what if", then its natural to speculate. there is nothing wrong with speculating. especially given the theme of this thread.

Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
@Turok, yes perhaps it is, i was a bit dramatic for emphasis. He's a supremely talented albeit multi-dimensionally flawed player and character.
Truth be told if he goes to Man United he will become the most expensive player ever again, he will be the best paid footballer with no problems, the fan base will probably "love" him more unconditionally than we do, the club will probably protect him more as an image and icon akin to Messi as they see him as a god coming from the skies over there, he may not be as persecuted as he is in Spain by English press, and he will play CL and be the figure head of a Man United resurgence...
Maybe he feels his mission in Madrid is complete, which it is, and now he feels like leaving like this instead of in circumstances where he has less leverage is better. Since he's also an elite practitioner at Autofelattio, i'm sure he's confident he can win what he's won at Madrid in Man United, a top 2 richest footy club in the planet.
One scenario is Madrid and Ronaldo have an amicable divorce, they hold a presser where Ronaldo says he's achieved everything at the greatest club in the world (with trophies filling up the TV camera frames) but leaves because he feels fulfilled and because he's also a victim of unfair circumstances, "injusticia" as he once said when he fittingly enough got kicked out of Euro's by Spain. Possibly good PR move.
Ronaldo's career is godlike on paper and maybe he feels he can afford to take his chances in the theatre of ?his? dreams. Ronaldo has squeezed us dry in various ways and up until 2014 the ends had not justified the means, this last CL winning campaign of his is the only truly uncontested one in terms of his contributions in the big moments, he's always been a god against teams like Ajax, Apoel, Sporting, etc. And tbh, despite going down as the greatest forward in Madrid history since Di Stefano, he has hardly shown to be a Madridista in the true sense of the word. His departure could mean to Madrid a departure from this Galactico culture as well and it would suit us moving towards the future as we could fit Isco, Asensio, Mbappe, etc.
Or...he could just end up staying.

Did Dembele say, without question, he would never sign for us? Isco actually said some naughty things about Madrid during his Valencia days. Modric, well, no idea but he went Tottenham so he probably was glad to go literally anywhere from there.

Other than he has yet to actually perform when you really need him to, dribbles side ways whenever things aren't going his way and essentially disappears often than not, um, not sure either to be honest.

Just preference... if we actually made a hard run at him, i think we have a chance ASSUMING Barca couldn't match our bid. The last part is key: If all things are equal, he would choose Barca over Madrid and it may not be something Flo wants to risk.

Cant find the article but last year, Dembele confirmed he prefers barcelona over us. I was hot for him too until then.
Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
If Ronaldo leaves, there is no perfect plan.
Replacing Morata with Mbappe should still happen. Bale and Benzema staying put obviously, along with Isco, Asensio and Vasquez.
Option 1: you sign a world class CF
So if you consider that Mbappe is going to play off the left side like CR, as an inside forward, you can try to sign the best striker you can, someone like Lewandowski.
Mbappe/Lucas-Lewandowski/Benzema-Bale/Asensio
Kroos/Isco-Marcos/Casemiro-Modric/Kovacic
OPtion 2: you sign a world class winger
considering we can't get Nerman out of Barca, the best wingers on the market are Hazard and Alexis. Both can play off the left and Mbappe will get more time as a CF, with Bale playing inside forward off his side and the wingers playmaking more on the ball.
Alexis or Hazard/Lucas-Mbappe/Benzema-Bale/Asensio
Kroos/Isco-Marcos/Casemiro-Modric/Kovacic
Option 3: a bit like option 2, but instead of signing a world class player, we go for a talented player like Dembele. Trusting that Isco will start more and get us the goods with Benzema/Mbappe and Bale. But i will suggest we also go for another CM/CAM like Ceballos to add depth in midfield if Isco is counted among the attackers.
Isco/Dembele-Mbappe/Benzema-Bale/Asensio + Lucas
Kroos/Ceballos-Marcos/Casemiro-Modric/Kovacic

i will reply here since the post should have been made in this thread.sportsczy wrote:Dembele Nick. Put Dembele on the right and Mbappe as the CF or left side striker. I still want Dembele lol.
I like Dembele a lot, but there is some danger in losing CR, the wealth of experience he has, and sticking in a newbie like Dembele, who hasnt played 3 seasons of pro football, and whose decision making is still highly questionable.

I mean Dembele with Mbappe. Get them both if CR leaves. We can probably pay for both with the 250 or so we would get for CR.
We would then need a stone cold killer of a striker to put next to them. Benzema isn't that guy. Heck, go after Lewandowski. Send Bayern Benzeman with some cash for Lewa.

Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
same can be said about mbappe, that's why I suggested aubameyang, he has tons of experience. I still think its our best option to stick these two youngsters out wide and have auba take up front until mbppe makes the switch like CR7.
But who am I kidding, there isn't even a single link of us with dembele, while we throw money to south American kids and this guy is proven in French and german league. unbelevible, I heard barca are going all in to sign him, if they do, its game over, we lost two best dribblers and wingers to barca, same story as Neymar. Bale needs to go too. but if cr7 they wont sell him. arggg.

Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
@supermag, Aubameyang is just not good enough, quit with him already. i would take Mbappe over him 20x before i look at aubameyang and then i would still sign someone else. The guy is at his peak and he is not even a world class striker, chokes too much when it matters and did nothing of note in CL. waste of time.
this is interesting, Benzema is not a goal getter, we will know that.
i actually like this plan, because we need a reliable scorer and Benzema loses all credibility without CR. I just dont see us selling two of the BBC in the same summer. But i like the idea.

Re: If Ronaldo is leaving, we need a whole new attacking line
I will never understand the hype for Lewandowski.
Though the stats do reflect elite status. but for me it's just...
He's not faster than Benz. If we're gonna replace Benzema, I would like someone who has good pace and acceleration as the bare minimum. many situations that could have become goalscoring opportunities if we just had someone with good speed to take the chance and run away with it.
in this case, I'd rather just keep Morata lol. also, Lewandowski is 28. he will decline soon just like Benz. And unlike Benzema who had great speed in his younger days, Lewandowski was never fast to begin with. the oldest we should invest in should be 27 and no higher than that. though I would make an exception for Aubameyang for his speed.
You say he chokes a lot nick but he has consistently scored against us and that's good enough for me. for we are the best around.
besides, he has passion for us. We could always use those who desire to bleed for this shirt.
