Re: Stoke vs. Liverpool
I like Allen but lots of rumours he's being sold. He's been our best player again...he deserves more appearances.
Also Lovren was playing fantastic until getting injured, again.

Re: Stoke vs. Liverpool
He can't leave, He's the best short passer in the team and easily the most intelligent. His pressing is so calculated.

Re: Stoke vs. Liverpool
I agree with you. When on form and confident he's a very good midfielder. Gets way too much hate for what he brings. I would have him in over Can and Milner, TBH.
Maybe we should try Benteke at CB.

Re: Stoke vs. Liverpool
Allen is not the type of midfielder Klopp likes... you either need to be super technical or great at ball recovery. You need one of those top class traits.
So i think all the midfielders for Liverpool are short timed. I don't think he likes any of them.
In fact, i predict massive turnover in the summer if not the winter.

Yes all of them are but at the moment the hierarchy goes as:
Henderson, Allen, Milner etc

Re: Stoke vs. Liverpool
Allen is quite technical and very good at ball recovery. His pressing and ball movement have been on display all game, and basically since Klopp took over. Also I don't see Henderson going anywhere.

You will take the 3 euro for Kirchhoff and you will be happy with it.
How bad are the injuries? any long term?

Have to say...rewatching the Ibe goal over and over...I'm like 90% sure that Joe Allen intended that pass. His body language, angle and the way he immediately looks over to Ibe after it happens. I'm pretty sure that was an intentional assist. What a play.

If you watch the video you see Allen takes multiple looks to his left, and then actually points and tells Ibe to go wider just before receiving the ball.

Yes. I'd say 100%. Who was doubting it?

Lots of people...even the announcers thought it was a scuffed shot.
That pass to Coutinho in the early stages. His turning on the ball. His calculated pressing. What a player. Could have even had a penalty.

Re: Stoke vs. Liverpool
LMAO you can't possibly think he actually meant that miskick as a pass.
But he definitely was MOTM this game. His throughball to Coutinho was much more impressive. Played well. I'd rather see him get minutes over Milner for sure.

Except if you watch the play it's very clearly a pass. That is not even remotely an attempt on goal, and Allen dictates the play as it's unfolding.

Knowing how many bad misses Allen has had for us, I just can't be at all sure what he attempted there. The lad's got 2 league goals for us, but he probably should have three times that with the chances he's had. His miss against Everton still makes me mad.
I don't mind if he gets a run of games, though, to show has he developed into better player. But if his level is the same as before, he's not good enough for us. I'm seeing everyone here saying he should basically be a starting CM now, on the back of one good game. Let's hold our horses a bit.

Re: Stoke vs. Liverpool
Yes he's had bad misses, but when you watch the play develop you can see it's not a shot. It doesn't even remotely resemble a shot on 2nd look, actually, and he dictates the build up of the play looking multiple times at Ibe and even directing him wider before getting the ball.
That aside it hasn't just been one good game. I think he's been good to great in pretty much every game he's played in under Klopp (admittedly small sample size though). Even under Rodgers when he was fully fit and on form he was quite good, and it's easy to forget he's only 25.
Just remember that winning back possession and intelligent, quick passing is a big part of Klopp's system and I don't think we have a midfielder that is better at either of those things. Allen is extremely smart in his positioning and calculated pressing (as well as taking tactical fouls). Watch a full game and focus on him...he always has his head up looking at how the play is developing whether he has the ball or not.
If he can keep up his current level of play, or something similar to it (a little bit of variance is to be expected depending on the opponent, form, etc.) he fits perfectly in line with what Klopp is known for, and he's still not close to his prime.

Joe Allen: Has won possession of the ball 60 times this season - more than any other player in the Premier League

Re: Stoke vs. Liverpool
In no world can you argue that it was a pass. You and Brendan Rodgers might be the only two people in the world who think that it was a pass. Even Joe Allen doesn't believe it.
