THE NEXT 8 GAMES THREAD!!
okay, so we are in sort of a situation here. Our fixture list for the next 8 matches reads like this
05-Mar - Premier League
Newcastle vs Man United
10-Mar - FA Cup Quarterfinal
Man United vs Arsenal
15-Mar - Premier League
Man United vs Tottenham
22-Mar - Premier League
Liverpool vs Man United
04-Apr - Premier League
Man United vs Aston Villa
12-Apr - Premier League
Man United vs Man City
18-Apr - Premier League
Chelsea vs Man United
26-Apr - Premier League
Everton vs Man United
The fun doesnt end there either. Theres also an away match to Crystal palace after these and the home one against Arsenal. Will make a separate last 3 games thread involving those 2 and the last one against Hull. Its going to go down to the wire hopefully. First and foremeost lets concentrate on these super 8. Its like we are getting thrown right into the middle of a slaughter house and has got no way to escape.
So, How many can we salvage from these bros ??
Newcastle away, Everton away and Crystal Palace away (which will come after the eight) most likely will decide our fate regarding whether or not we will play Champions League football next season. And thanks to the all eff ups we have constantly come up with this season, right now we need 9 out of that 9. or minimum 7.
Other than that, home games against Spurs, Ars and City. I have some confidence in the side. Hope we can triumph in 2 out of that 3. For that though, we need performances and momentum in the matches before that. Starting with Newcaslte match tonight which arguably is our most important match of the season I believe.
Chelsea and Poo away. Well...just hope it wont get ugly for us.
k so, here we go. THE BUSINESS END FOLKS!!!

Re: THE NEXT 8 GAMES THREAD!!
That run of fixtures
Every game, starting from today, is a cup final.
Drop any points and we're in the ****.
Lets see what the the players and manager is made out of. Especially LVG.
FWIW- I think we'll lose to Chelsea and draw v City at home. Beat Spurs, Liverpool, Villa, Everton and NewC.
I'm not too confident about this team right now. We're playing like sh*t and scraping by against the smaller clubs, against the tougher teams we'll be found out and punished. I'm still looking for that spark, that one promising performance that has eluded us for a long time- since Hull at OT.
The players and the manager has to stand up and take the test full on now. Hopefully the challenge of these fixtures will wake the team up.

Yep. ..
Already looks over for Utd too much better teams in that run-in then yourselves. Hopefully for you guys Utd may just scrape Europa League but that's a big ask for a mid table team.
But you never know football is full of surprises hope you guys make Europa league you truly deserve it..

giving it large.
Its gonna go right down to the wire and u still need to come to OT, this time there will be no gifts from Valencia. so prepare to lube up and assume the position arsenal have been in for utd the last decade.

Re: THE NEXT 8 GAMES THREAD!!
Have to say the win against Spurs was impressive, and for the first time I felt the team managed to play van Gaal's way in a souvereign way.
As a result, you had complete control and domination in a way you rarely see in PL games, where even games that are one-sided are a lot more end-to-end and open, just that one team is too bad to get anything done.
Here Spurs never could get a foot into the door. Utd players knew where to pass and where to move, executed premeditated tactical moves (overloading the left flank) and completely dominated via possession and positioning.
Performances like that and you can win against any PL team in the run in (I would exempt Chelsea, but they have been poor recently, and Arsenal if they have a good day).
Didn't think Utd would get top 4 in recent months but now I can see them consolidating 4th.

Re: THE NEXT 8 GAMES THREAD!!
Exactly what I've been saying. The football we played on a technical level is better than anything I have ever seen at OT tbh. The passing, the availability of a free man ( Fellaini most of the time), overloading the flanks and vertical passing options. What impressed me the most was how well we cut off the passing lanes from Spurs. Not pressing like maniacs but Pressing with tactical assurance. We forced Spurs to hit long. What I loved was the vertical Pass to Fellaini. I love those balls. Typical van Gaal move.
What I don't like us how often Fellaini's first touch lets him down. If he does that against Pool we will be punished swiftly. The speed of the passing was great as well. All we need to improve on is the positioning and be sharper in decision making. I'll give us at the end of next season before we are finally looking like a van Gaal team. We won't be anywhere the level of Ajax 90s, but we could at least look as competent as his Bayern side. That Ajax side is still the best side I have seen, surpassed maybe by Pepcelona.

oh man, I forgot this year Barca, Bayern and Real have an agreement in place with the FA to take up the respective spots of city, ars and pool in the table after the 29th game. No way we will finish inside 4th. This kid's a genius. Give him a medal someone, or if you cant find a medal, give him something, its too cute, his desperate attempts at trolling.

k jokes apart, neither have the technique nor the subtle grace to pull stunts like these. Suggest getting a crash course from legendary Gil and come back later.

Yea. Spurs were expecting to take points from OT again, their fans and players were confident, may be a tad too confident. So they kinda underestimated us at the start. It may have evaporated soon seeing us ripping them a new one, but at the start I think they were not at it.
Added with that the loss to ars, along with the rooney motivational speech before the match, we were really pumped up.
But having said this much and when trying to separate the above points as the possible reasons why we dominated, its safe to say that it was a complete tactical victory on part of LvG. Pochettino was clueless throughout.
And even in the last few weeks, the FA cup match, the newcastle match where we did yet another so called fluke win, there were signs that finally the wheels were in motion. It didnt add up to anything in those matches, but here it culminated into a complete performance.
May be its too early and may be di maria returning will once again cut the momentum this team managed in the last match. But I think despite that theres positive signs and enough to suggest that we should stand by lvg.

It was an impressive performance indeed and it was what I, and many united fans, have been crying out for.
Forget winning while playing poorly ( Not a bad thing in the grand scheme of things), I just wanted to be entertained by United. I wanted to finish watching a match with a smile on my face, not looking like I aged 10 years lol.
I know with LVG it's a gradual process, and Jibers put up a solid argument in LVG's defence tbf, if we carry on and kick on from last Sunday playing like that, I will have no qualms about LVG and would be fully behind him, even if we don't make top4.
That football is the football I love watching. Direct, quick passing and movement, full of purpose and intent. Not that awful possession based football with no risks.
It's funny how we had to have Di Maria and RVP missing for us to produce our best footballing performance( against a solid team) in ages. It was our most balanced formation(other than Val at rb). And surpise, surprise, the team clicked.
LVG has now gotta continue with upkeeping this balance and not resort to type by cramming star names in the starting 11 and playing players all over the place to accommodate them (regardless of form).

Re: THE NEXT 8 GAMES THREAD!!
I've been thinking about a bet on the Liverpool vs Utd game.
How many goals do you think you'll lose by trying to guess the correct score.

At least this guy's got the basics right. He's not replying to the replies of his garbage posts.
A future GL troll legend in the making. But still I feel he should take lessons from proven performers such as Gil and Sepi or his development will stagnate.

Re: THE NEXT 8 GAMES THREAD!!
Our death run is finally over. And we did very well. 15 from 7. Today's hopefully was just a blip. We can at least hope that way.
Okay.
Provided Pool win all of their matches (with not so big margins) we need 8 points minimum from 4 games. I think with 6, 7 we can do it.
So automatically next week match becomes the one of the most important matches of the season. Expected to take 3 points. And cant fek up no matter whatsoever.
Btw Record intact of getting lucky with these kinda threads.

Re: THE NEXT 8 GAMES THREAD!!
We never make it easy for ourseleves do we. Had the chance to seal top 4 and potentially be in the run in to get 2nd place yesterday and the players mentally decided to take the day off. Shocking.
WBA game is so vital and LVG will need to change things up a bit because WBA will deploy the same ultra defensive tactics that frustrate our team. Our home form should see us grab a win though.
2 more wins and a draw is what's needed. Doable. Yesterday should serve as a kick up the arse hopefully. No room for complacency anymore.

Looks like it began at Everton. Unreal how much we're undoing all that hard work of defeating Spurs, LFC and City...heck, even Villa, who are on a very good run of form.
