So what is the Lampard situation?
It looks like City engineered his move to MLS. Probably to compromise with the FFP. At first it was only a 6 month loan to stay fit, now Pellegrini is talking about Lampard playing for City next year also. He has tarnished his Mr.Chelsea image.
Re: So what is the Lampard situation?
He's still my man. If Chelsea dont win the PL, I hope City do

How is he Mr Chelsea when John Terry is around? He is a professional football player doing his job. Who cares. Chelsea didn't want to renew his contract so they let him go. This loyalty BS goes both ways. Good on him for joining City. If they win the title because of his goals Mou, or rather Chelsea will look rather stupid.

Re: So what is the Lampard situation?
NYCFC posted on their website they had signed him on a free transfer this summer. NYCFC signing them should have meant that MLS had signed him, seeing as how the league is a single entity.
However that turned out to be false. His contract was with City this whole time. Which is why MLS couldn't do anything about the extended loan because they have no power here seeing as how they don't own his contract
NYCFC sold 11000+ season tickets and lampard branded jerseys and used him in advertising. This is a fraudulent scam and clear FFP dodging. It is fraud to promote your club and sell tickets using a player you don't even own.
This is a horrible situation because this makes it easy to for man city to fudge their wage books about where the money is and what club is paying for who.
Fifa and the UEFA need to look into this and do something about it. You can't allow a club to hide where 8m+ in wages a year is going

Re: So what is the Lampard situation?
He's who we thought he was.
The same guy who got AVB fired because he, rightfully so, tried to break up player power at the club. Only has his numbers because he surrounded himself by "Yes-men" like Drogba,Mata,Essien,Ballack who allowed him to do it, and got rid of everybody who wouldnt build the attack around him Cole,Hasselbaink,Robben,Shevchenko..ect.
Lampard never planned on going to America. Nobody even likes him in New York after what he said about 9/11. This was just the quickest way for him to hurt Chelsea for not giving him what he wants. Same way he hurt Scholari when he didnt agree with his tactics.
Greatest Chelsea player ever? He wasn't even the best they had at the time. This guy had inflated assists statistics. He would lump the ball forward, and Anelka/Drogba/whoever else with the misfortune of having to lead the line for them would make magic. Take a look at that double year. In a list of best Chelsea players this century he is somewhere around Kalou. This man isn't Cech. He isn't Drogba. He isn't Terry. He isn't Makelélé. He isn't even Malouda. His saving grace is longevity, and the fact that he did not COMPLETELY crap the bed when facing a good team the way Mata did.

Penalty merchant.
I remember the last match of their double season when Drogba only needed one goal to secure the golden boot, and the selfish prick Lampard wouldnt even let him have that. This is who Lampard is, to a striker whose unselfishness was the only reason he had a large portion of the goals he had. The only time he ever ran was when he was getting a goal, or trying to take the penalty when another player made it. He is the type of guy who would tell you HIS stats without you asking.
Gerrard will go down as an international flop because Lampard is no midfielder. He is a striker who played further back because chelsea had better options at striker.

Wait what? how? why? and again what? How the hell is City Dodging FFP? City sign a player out of contract and pay his wage fully. How the hell is that dodging anything?? Pls lets not mention FFP if we have no idea what the hell your talking about.
Also, it was honestly probably easier for City to sign him instead of getting a Loan and going through the MLS front office. So City offers him a 6 month Contract and promotes it as a loan not sure why the charade was needed???? May be to lessen the backlash from fans and media that Mr. Chelsea going to City to play proper positive football and win trophies
This is absolutely would be a non-story if City weren't tied for at top of the Table, in part due to Lampard's Goatness. Seriously if we were 10 points back of Chelsea no one; English Media/Mou/Chelsea fan's who have now became Revisionist Historians questioning Lampard's Legacy and if he was ever a team player WOULD CARE!
Excluding the NYC FC fans and season ticket holders (which none of you are), none of you care about NYC FC fans not having Lampard the first 2 months of the season. The issue is that Lampard is helping us win the league which people have an issue with. Also NYC FC are not in danger of getting relegated (no relegation system in the MLS) and what not, so a 36 yo Midfielder being out for 2 months makes no difference. Team isn't good enough to contend for a MLS trophy right now anyways.

Honestly some of the claims here are ridiculous, how come this was a non issue when everyone thought Chelsea had the league in the bag.

Most Chelsea fans are just mad that Lamps has gotten City numerous points this season.
I do not share the views of many Chelsea fans, he is, and will remain, a legend, in my eyes.

Re: So what is the Lampard situation?
Some of the posts on Lamps here are ridiculous and revisionism at its best. One cannot deny that Frank Lampard along with Zola are two of Chelsea's best players of all time. Given that Chelsea saw Lamps as collateral (and wrongly so) he had a right to prove his mettle that he can continue his quest to prove that he remains a top level player and given that City-Chelsea have 0 history in rivalry along with his almost apologetic goal towards Chelsea; Frank has no reason in going in a team (NYCFC) in a league that is nowhere near close to top level as it's not as if he has denied a move to the club.
Moan all you want he's shut his critics up and has been vital for City as it is. He's established himself amongst one of PL's and arguably Chelsea's greatest as it is.
What we see how is a player past his prime on fuel from the sheer perfection of his desire and professional craft to continue in adding the final pieces to his storied career.
Go Frank.

Re: So what is the Lampard situation?
As far as I know Lampard refused to take a pay cut which apparently is a club policy for players over 30. Not saying he did wrong not to take the offer but Chelsea did offer him a contract to stay after all and he decided he's better off at City. John Terry on the other hand took the offer to cut his wages and he's still at Chelsea.

That's fair enough to Lampard. Football is a job no matter how glamorised the media try to make it out to be. Why should he cut his wages? People take these things to seriously. I don't care about any player. They answer to #1 which is themselves.
