He was incredibly good between November and March/April, last season. I think Ronaldo's injury last season played a part in his negative transformation over the last months.

Let's not overreact, Bale is quite talented, and I'm sure with a little bit of effort from his to part, to learning the game, he can take it to the next level.. Maybe not Ronaldo level, but still up there with top players around the world.
