Re: Ángel Di María
i havent followed the french league, but from the stats, it seems like he's not that bad on the left wing. Plus, our midfield have so much creativity, and he's flexible enough to play in both position.

we just bought Depay for the LW and Cavani won't come here to sit on the bench for Rooney after dealing with having to play out of position for Ibrahimovic in Paris

Re: Ángel Di María
If Di Maria stays, he has to play games; he is a "superstar". LvG must give him chances. With the actual situation I predict a first XI without Angel, but unfortunately things aren't like this. Maybe Mata can play RAM with a tendency of RW in a 4-3-3 where the 3 in the midfield are Schneiderlin-Schweini/Carrick-Herrera.
Young and Depay will fight for the LW position and Mata with Di Maria for the RW. Mata provided more consistency and stability in our game last season, despite the stats which show a very efficient Di Maria when it comes about assists (considering his injury breaks & play time). But that was all from the Argentinian. He wasn't the player with the explosion we expected, he didn't have the inspiration to lead the team to memorable comebacks or anything near.
At this level, players like Mata and Di Maria can't fight between them over a position, maybe I am wrong but let's remember that LvG used 4-3-3 against Club America, so I can't imagine another construction of this formation with the players we have. An improvised 4-3-3 with Mata in the midfield won't be efficient and practical when you have 4 other top class names which prefer to play there. But Mata being the playmaker, the man with the free role in attack can be more dangerous for the opponents. But does a friendly in the pre-season mean a lot? No, it doesn't. We can't be sure about the formation. Not even van Gaal can be sure about it, that's why we have to play with a few different formations, a few different line-ups, so we can establish ourselves a proper tactic till the beginning of the EPL. A situation like this can go wrong and destroy both players, or in the best case scenario just one of them.
I am confused about the situation. Last year it was how it was because we didn't have Schneiderlin and Schweini. Now? How will we manage to keep Di Maria in the squad and use him at his best?
Later Edit: I've even forgot about Fellaini.

Re: Ángel Di María
Depay was played behind the striker for the first friendly. I don't know if he will just stay on the left wing. Rooney is virtually flexible enough for multiple positions. If we don't do rotation, it will be hard to get a real 15+ goals striker who just wants to play upfront every game. We also need to play Januzaj more, to help him develop further.

Re: Ángel Di María
If we go with what happened in the 1st match alone the obvious inference is
It is a 4-2-3-1 system LvG is thinking about right now and not a 4-3-3.
Personally I am against that. As it will limit the quality we have got especially in midfield and only 2 of them 4 will play. The other position or the front pointing tip or the no.10 role will go to either depay or fellaini or even rooney (if we buy a new striker)
And I think right now Young is a sure starter in lvg's eyes in the left wing.
So come the 1st first match I can see us lining up as something like this
Which is going to be really sad because that means we wont be having our best 11 players playing on the pitch simply. For LvG it is all about his system, process and philoshophee and he wont care about what others say.

Yep, when I wrote the post above I was tired and I don't know what I was thinking about with the system. I am laughing now about the shit I wrote about that 4-3-3 "used" by LvG vs Club America.
My opinion with the battle for the position between Mata and Di Maria stays alive. Whether we play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, they can't be compatible together in those systems.

Re: Ángel Di María
From Nov onwards, he was pointless. Got benched by Young lol.
Want him to stay and regain that hunger to improve and fight for his position, but it looks like he'll take the easy option and quit after 1 season.
Won't be missed, imo. Our best run of form and performances came when he was benched.

Apparently, yeah.
Edit: But ultimately it's down to him and I get the impression he just doesn't want to be at United, and will most likely be sold if PSG give us close to the amount we paid for him.

Re: Ángel Di María
No i haven't.
I've made it clear that i'd rather he stayed and fight for his position, for him to give it another season and see how he gets on.
But it looks like it's his decision to want to leave. Any player that doesn't want to be at United and doesn't understand the privilege it is to represent this club, then they can do one, and that includes him of course.

Re: Ángel Di María
Does that apply to De gea too? If then you would want him out so bad considering his heart is set on Madrid.

De Gea is playing for United since 2012. Di Maria only stayed one season. De Gea loves United, I don't know how you realised that De Gea's heart is set on Madrid and that he wants to leave.

@RED look who our captain is
TBF this signing should never have been made. It was Woodward just flexing Uniteds money. Hope he does well at PSG.

De gea has had his personal terms agreed with us already. Refused to sign new contract.

And I can't stand him, mate. Only tolerate him when he's banging the goals for us but if it were down to me, he'd be gone from this club.

I'm on phone so can't give you links. Marca has reported it. Lately we also have negotiated a signing on bonus too if that turns out a free transfer.
