you made it sound like it's a classic case of " the team that misses  chances will get  punished in the end "   

holland could've easily scored early when sneijder was one on one with casillas .
and needless to mention that spain's only goal came from a nonexistent penalty .
the only clear chance they missed in the first half was silva's.

they don't have " themselves " to blame , they got thrashed by the better team , simple as that.
