Carlo Ancelotti:"Atlético Madrid will knock out Milan"
Carlo wrote:Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has backed Atletico Madrid to knock his former club AC Milan out of the Champions League.
Diego Simeone's side claimed a 1-0 win over the Rossoneri at San Siro in the first leg of their last-16 encounter and the Italian believes his club's rivals will finish the job on home soil against Clarence Seedorf's men.
"Good luck to Clarence, but the favourite for the match between Atletico and Milan is Atletico," he is quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Atletico are favourites because of their football, the atmosphere at the Vicente Calderon and because of the advantage they gained at San Siro.
"Simeone will progress. He's very intense."
Well Fat-Ass thank you for your glorious vote of confidence.
Or could this be Carlo reverse-jinxing for the love of his favourite club?

No chance. We are playing away from home and Atleti have Luis "Jesus swept" Filipe and David Villa

Re: Carlo Ancelotti:"Atlético Madrid will knock out Milan"
Carlo is just being realistic.
We have a chance, but we we are by no means favorites, or even sub-favorites in this tie.
Not only is our top forward and top defender sidelined with injury, but we are also playing against a counter attacking side needing to score, and in their own home.
Saying anything else, and Carlo would have been a Pele-size prediction specialist.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti:"Atlético Madrid will knock out Milan"
Guys, this thread wasn't meant to be taken as a shock value but as Milanisti irritation that one of our largest club figures has simply ruled out the possibility of winning versus Atletico. The prospect of the reverse jinx is what brought out the choice of red pill or blue pill as we do not want to accept that we are out of the tie, no matter how difficult it looks.
To which it does, there is no chance we will win.
To which it does, there is no chance we will win.

Since under Carlo we had the knack to turn impossible to lose situations into embarrassing defeats, maybe under Seedorf we might turn impossible to win situations into glorious wins?
Who am I kidding, we will lose hard

Wheres the spirit ?
Remember anything can happen in football.
You can win with a hard work and commitment.
Luck can be on your side as well.

It is still possible for our team to win games, is it not?Arquitescu wrote:Forza wrote:Arquitescu wrote:

Look, I know you're into the "We Are Milan" motto and pro-active model before games yet once I'm convinced that "we will win easily" despite several disadvantages being presented to us, then I'll be right by your side in the same context.

This is the Champions league and this is Milan we are talking about ruling us out is the biggest mistake to make considering we outplayed them in the first leg, I have hope for this match yet.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti:"Atlético Madrid will knock out Milan"
A 0-1 lead isn't the end of the world for Milan by any means and with that in mind , yes we do have a fair chance to make it ; difficult yes , impossible no . On the other hand , it is still Atletico's ticket to lose and with a few words , everything points towards their favor .
As for the frequent arguement about the Milan - Atletico game , well , yes we did play better despite losing ; but from an outsiders pov , i disagree that this fact translates to a window of hope for Milan , because when you do your best and still lose on your own ground , the opponent more often than not is probably of better quality than you. There's not much to be positive about this , because if you ask me at least , Atletico will clearly be significantly more dangerous on their ground and we will have to overcome ourselves in everything since the last time , something i find difficult to honestly expect from Milan this season.
History is important in such games , but the present is and will always be the better base to draw conclusions from. We have been in continuous improvement under Seedorf and whilst i can honestly say i see Milan scoring in Madrid , i can't take it out of my head that Atletico will simply give everything they have in their arsenal to make it worth nothing in the end.
As for Ancelotti , well i honestly can't find issue with what he said there . He said his honest opinion , which is respectable if anything. I am mostly critical of Ancelotti , but when someone talks sense , or is simply pragmatic , you can't fault him , past relations and what not.

Re: Carlo Ancelotti:"Atlético Madrid will knock out Milan"
It has nothing to do with that. I ran along with this farcical discussion hoping that you'd read through my comments. I should now explain that my original post, "We will win easily", was a sarcastic comment on the rampant pessimism and shameful defeatism in this thread. Reading some of what has been written here you would swear that the entire first team and coach have missed out on plane tickets to Madrid altogether. It is just as unrealistic to expect that Milan have no chance of victory as it is to expect that Milan will win easily. My subsequent comment, "We have won games in the past", was an attempt to return the conversation back to the reality of the circumstances at hand.Arquitescu wrote:Forza wrote:It is still possible for our team to win games, is it not?Arquitescu wrote:

It is true, the odds are against us away from home and down a goal. However, is it so unforeseeable that Milan could emerge triumphant? Is the situation so dire that we have to invent a "reverse jinx" to save us? Is the team so outmatched that we Milan fans no longer dare to even hope for success? I bet that's not what the Olympiacos players were thinking when they walked out to face Manchester United.
Next week, Milan will put a team out there in the Calderón and they will strive to prove the doubters wrong, because in football, the game is not won on paper, anything can still happen... Milan can still happen.

I don't think any Milan fan, or anyone in particular thinks it would be impossible for us to win. However, we are realistically saying we are not favorites in the is tie. We were not before the Milan game and we are less so now.
I hope against hope that Kaka rolls back the years with a 2007-like performance. That MDS returns from injury stronger than before. That by some miracle Essian regains his imperial statues. Etc.
That we are reduced to hoping our team can make in upset is the statues quo in Milan these days. No longer are we a team other teams surprisingly defeat, but a team that springs up the surprises.
