Similarly in the same light English talent is underrated.

Don't know why this suprises you. It has always been like this. Just look at Silva, Mata, J.Martinez or Negredo. When they were in Spain, only La Liga fans rated them. But once they moved to the PL, they instantly became world class. It's something that has annoyed me for quite some time now.

all due respect, that's bullshit. maybe for the average fan, but if you follow enough to post on a forum, and aren't blinded by your "love" (or rather the perceived self validation your country's league provides you) then you know better.

No. By the way it's BIG 2, the other Madrid team will collapse over the summer.

Thats who I am talking about. Those who know more about football rated as they should have been rated, but the average fans didnt. Heck, when Silva signed for City talkshit called him an average player IIRC.

And now, thanks to the PL hype machine, he is rated by everyone as world class, when in truth he was already world class when he played for Valencia.

Another example of that was after the Euro 08, when a journalist said that spain played with Xavi and Iniesta instead of the more glamorous pair of Xabi Alonso and Fabregas, even after Xavi was named the MVP of the tournament..

Or maybe it's because they had to play for a bigger club on a bigger stage in order to be called World Class?

Not really. Valencia were averaging Champions League every season and had far more recognition than what was a lowly city.

Don't know what you're implying.

Man City were more hyped at the time due to starting their big project. They were assembling a team with highly rated players and everyone was interested.

And Valencia had a team to whom proven themselves over the course of the decade, were actually in the Champions League, finishing 3rd consistently and playing in a very high profile city of Valencia.

Hype shrouding a big project doesn't platform it as a bigger club or a bigger stage in any form.

To some it does though. Maybe in a 1v1 match at the time it would have been close, but I don't think some fans see it that way. They see big players moving to one team, which then draws their attention. Man City were a team on the up, whereas Valencia were a stagnant side. That rise obviously then led to Man City becoming a top team.

Yup, pretty much still underrated. La Liga Proud Might be suffering from utter financial mismanagement but can still churn out good teams within Europe's 2 competitions...
